Honda advert.
Got this email. The commercial is incredible, but I love Rube Goldberg stuff like this. I do not know if the statements made about it in the email are true; haven't even checked Snopes yet. Anyway, have a look:

The new Honda Accord commercial

Take a couple of minutes to watch this clever commercial - but read this page before you click on the link. There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time exactly as you see it.

The film took 606 takes.

On the first 605 takes, something, usually very minor, didn't work. They would then have to set the whole thing up again. The film cost six million dollars and took three months to complete, including a full engineering sequence.

In addition, it's two minutes long so every time Honda airs the film on British television, they're shelling out enough dough to keep any one of us in clover for a lifetime. However, it is fast becoming the most down loaded advertisement in Internet history. Honda executives figure the ad will soon pay for itself simply in "free" viewing (Honda isn't paying a dime to have you watch this commercial!).

When the ad was pitched to senior executives, they signed off on it immediately without any hesitation-including the costs.

There are six and only six handmade Accords in the world. To the horror of Honda engineers, the film makers disassembled two of them to make the film. Everything you see in the film (aside from the walls, floor, ramp, and complete Honda Accord) are parts from those two cars.
When the ad was shown to Honda executives, they liked it and commented on how amazing computer graphics have gotten. They fell off their chairs when they found out it was for real.

www.daboy ...

I would hate to be responsible for filming the silly thing.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Re: Honda advert.
WOW... If that was truly a live-filmed sequence, that is truly amazing. Can you imagine all the work that it took to simply plan that sequence? Let alone set it up and film it? That's amazing.

"Never, Never, Never Quit" -Winston Churchill

Re: Honda advert.
I read up on this a few months ago when it was first aired. There is one cut in the video because the set was so long that there were no stages which could hold it! So they did it in two pieces. However, they do claim that the whole thing was done in one try. In other words they did not take the first half of one run and mate it with the second half from another run.
<img src="http://www.camerasupport.com/oV/mavsigr ...
