Come in! Have a margarita or root beer? How about some fresh trout? :)

Who are the Borg?

Quote:
As with most Star Trek villians, they represent a growning social issue of the times. The Borg are mindless at the level of individuality, but act under a concerted communal-hive mind. They are agressive and overbearing. They have no concern for other species culture or belief structure. The Borg only wish to steal, dominate, and subjugate every species within reach.

Basically, the Borg represent today's socialist Democrat.

Read this over at TW and got a good chuckle out of it. if you want a link to the thread <a href="http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/showthr ...

Its a thread from somebody who is seeing first contact and knows nothing about the borg or why they are considered the bad guys. there was another post in the begining which said they reposented communism... but thats not nearly as funny (partially because I think thats whats they do represent)

still laughing a little

That's funny... I was thinking of mindless teenagers and pre-teens following the latest music/fashion/hottest-thing trends via MTV, VH1, and broadcast radio.

The best representations are the ones that can represent many things. That's why we love the Borg. It doesn't matter which group we think is the one that "consumes our individuality;" if that's what we see in a group, then we can see that group in the Borg.

Certain other of Trek's allegories are altogether too specific.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming
