Your warranty generally wouldn't cover abuse... You can get splitters from Radio Shack cheap to have both plugged in at the same time. With my headset, I have the Mic plugged in all the time, then on my speakers I have a headphone jack. so I got a male to female 1/8th in. extansion cable so I can have everything plugged in whenever I need it. It works really well, and in my house, it makes everyone else happy when I put them on. ;)

I have a splitter solution as well. You can get the kind that are one solid piece, or you can get the kind that is a Y-cable. I generally prefer the latter, myself.
