Windows XP Service Pack 3 is out.

Come in! Have a margarita or root beer? How about some fresh trout? :)

Our testing at work showed a signicant performance increase once upgraded to SP3. Between 20-30%.

Let me know what you experience.

performance increased for what activities? Everything, office work, web browsing? I assume you're not testing at work much with 3d gaming... :)

You're correct, just overall OS performance.

Installed the service pack yesterday and so far I have had one problem with it. I have a task bar on the right hand side of my screen that contains links for my email websites, college and Hotmail. I normally click on one then the other to open them both up in tabs in Firefox. Now I click on one then the other and only the first one ever pops up. When ever I click on such a link a message pops up from Zone Alarm saying IE is trying to access the internet. I don't use IE for anything other than updating and the rare website that doesn't display right in Firefox.

Actually, just tried this. None of my desktop links work as long as an internet window is open. This was not so prior to the service pack update.

Any ideas how to correct this as it slows down my normal routine?

Figured out the problem. I deny IE access unless I'm using it usually and apparently there is a section of it that needs to operate for my desktop links to work when FireFox is active. By allowing IE internet access I have regain my ability to open my windows like normal.

Yay Vista! They secure it by disabling features you use.

The most secure system is turned off. :)
