I think the Home Premium will be OK for us.. Does anyone know if I have to choose between the 32 and 64 bit versions or are they on the same disc? I've got 2 64 bit capable PC's, but 1 not...

I think 32- and 64- are on the same CD. However unlike Vista, the different types have different media (home, ultimate, etc.) At least that's what I read a month or two ago.

Still rocking...love it. 64bit has been rock solid. No driver issues, machine seems a bit faster. No game issues as of yet.

I think I am going to buy the Family 3-pack for the rest of the house for $150. I think $50 per computer to get them all upgraded is a nice deal.
Amazon already has it: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows ... 639&sr=8-3

It will allow you to upgrade XP and Vista machines. It includes the 32 and 64 bit versions.

AVG Free works fine with it also. Neat thing is that Netflix instant movie viewer is built into the Media Center now. So I am watching movies while I am working on computers. I am also accessing my DirectTv DVR with the Directv2PC app and watching recorded shows and on-demand stuff. I love this!

If 32 and 64 bit versions come in the box, I think I might be in... I'll have to do some major cleaning and backing up on my XP machine tho...

If you buy OEM, there is a difference between 32 bit and 64 bit.

I saw that on newegg... I could do 1 OEM license for the laptop.. but for an extra $50, how can you not just get 3? I've managed to do full install with 'upgrade' discs, so if i have to wipe, it wouldn't be all bad.. besides. Cheap ass HP doesn't send recovery media anymore.. I burned my 1 copy to recover the laptop that I am allowed, but who knows how long the discs will be useful..

Amazon just dropped the price on the 3 license Family Pack to $134.

Good deal!

I'm considering making the move, but it won't be an upgrade. I'll pull my existing Vista drive, set it aside, and install Win 7 on a new HDD. Just trying to figure out what new Virus software to go with.

Oddly enough, it does look like MSE is one of the better alternatives out there:

I still use AVG myself, which ranked fairly well. Better than Norton and McAfee.
