Trying to play Tribes again...but get an error

When I first get in...using my same T2 install that I have used for years, I get some really weird fractal colors in my Textures, it clears up if I switch to 16 or 32 bit color depth, whatever the opposite of what it is set to.

Then the really weird error comes up. I get a C++ error message then it starts UE'ing all over the place.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

Did you change graphics cards? (and thus drivers)

Did you check for spyware?

You may have updated your DirectX without updating your drivers, which might make things act wonky.

Just some suggestions.

The latest NVIDIA drivers do weird things to T2. I'd recommend going back to one of the versions that are at the low 40's.

I suspect the new Nvidia drivers. I am reloading the 41.09 driver to test it. I bet that will fix it.

For some reason lately I have been getting 33.6 or sometimes higher connection speeds. I am pinging alot of servers in the 150 area. Depending on the throughput it might be playable.

We shall see. Then I plan on having a T2 evening for everyone if we can get a good server.

Cross your fingers....

Just make sure you adjusted your network settings and you should have enough data to play.

I was having a problem was causing me similar errors.
Step 1: Clean CD
Step 2: Before d/l any updates there is a T2 utility doctor that will force your comp to copy file fragments that in mine were skins and some textures. Then do the patches and that might work for you. Worked for me. Youll have to dig for the utility doctor.

I will play VERY rarely. I have no intention of getting into it at the level I was at. I just don't have time. But it does bug the tar outta me when I can even run T1 or T2 without it giving me problems.

The video driver fixed the artifacts issue. But now when I play almost any game for an extended period it will lock up solid. I am not sure where to go from here. It may be time to reformat the drive and start over.
