Come in! Have a margarita or root beer? How about some fresh trout? :)

$100 mail-in rebate? I guess I'll have to make photocopies of everything to ensure I get my $100 back.

Can't pass this up 'cause I'm building a desktop. I always scan my rebates/reciepts/proof of purchase. And I write my name/zip on the back of the PoP. I've only had to pull 'em out a couple of times, though. Most recently was with Symantec.

Fry's has deals like this all the time. I just got a $120 rebate off a 200gb 8mb cache 7200rpm hard drive. Ended up costing me around $110.

Just a note, don't buy too much high-end gear in the next few months. Everything is about to change with new form factors. AGP is going away for video cards and IDE will soon be gone as well in favor of SATA. This will all happen sometime this year.

Check here periodically:
w ...
<img src="http://www.camerasupport.com/oV/mavsigr ...

Ahhh Geez does that mean my Case will not be good because the new montherboards will not fit in them....

I believe my case is a ATX form factor case.... Also with that mean the high end gear available today will go down once the new stuff comes out?

I think(unless you have the money) that a person should let someone else buy all of the other new stuff that comes out so they can work through all of the BUGS....

I mean how soon can they wipe out the AGP and ATA connections....I think not very soon.. At least a few years before they stop making, selling those types of things...right?

Oh, what do you other geeks think?

They won't stop making the outdated parts any time soon, but R&D will certainly switch to new form factors and technologies as they emerge. You can still buy PC133 even though it's quite antiquated... which reminds me... DDR as you know it is going away as well in the near future.

I don't know if the new form factors will be compatible with current cases or not. I certainly hope they are since I have this nice shiney Lian-Li aluminum case. But with any negative effects will come positive aspects ten fold. New mothergboards and processors will be more energy efficient which means smaller power supplies and fewer case fans. This technology is already emerging in the small form factor (mini-pc) computers such as Shuttle. Faster PCI slots will speed up expansion card performance eliminating one of the oldest bottlenecks in your computer. It's kind of exciting even though I don't really feel like buying a new computer when mine is so darn stable.

I've finally wised up and now live one generation behind the rest of the technological world. I'm not so worried about getting that extra tiny bit of performance anymore, so I no longer have to spend $400 on a video card or $300 a new processor. I feel much better now.
<img src="http://www.camerasupport.com/oV/mavsigr ...

I installed one of these for a customer yesterday. Very sweet drive. I like it. Heck of a deal!
