Online database?

Ok, here's another one for you web geniousezes. I have a decent knowledge of <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>basic</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> web design and none of anything complex. How difficult / feasible would you say it is for me to set up an online searchable database of photos? I want to be able to assign keywords to photos and allow the client to search by those keywords and get a list of results. Is this a big project and / or learning curve?
