Enlightenment

No, grasshopper, not the path to understanding, but rather "Enlightenment" the window shell. In its current form, version 0.17, it's also known as E17 or DR17. And it is slick indeed, not to mention purty. :) Animated desktop backgrounds are only one feature. Seems like everything is customizable, from taskbars to icon sets to menus.

A primary site for E17 info is www.get-e.org which has several screenshots and explanations.

My KDE desktop on my Gentoo OS is nice looking, but E17 should eat it for breakfast. On toast. I've just finished a compile & install, now I have to go try it out!

Oh, yeah. It's purty, all right, and all I've seen so far is the default theme/scheme/thing. Working on configuration now; it's not as polished as KDE and doesn't have all the helpers.
