(RANT)
I am tired of every time I make a mistake in a game...or someone else gets their panties in a wad that they start cursing and being an A$$. There is NO reason to act like a 15 year old kid, though a lot of them are. I am tired of their immature little rants and attitudes. If this is the kind of disrespect I get from online people then the heck with them. They can sink to the depths of the ocean if they cannot play the game and have fun at it.
I was a commander tonight and we were whipping up on the opposition. But all the sudden someone votes me off and then NO ONE was being commander and we started losing points. So I said thanks for kicking me off and now no one was doing the job. So one of the clan members told me to SHUT THE F up or he would kick me. That was enough...I told them to grow up... and I left the server.
They can have it.....This world sucks sometimes.

I get that kind of thing a lot in AA. Though it's only with certain servers.
There really isn't a good way to find good folks in-game like there was for Tribes. Or Tribes2.
I
definitely feel for you, Ice. It's one of the reasons that I don't play as often as I used to. (That, and work and the fact that no one seems to play Tribes anymore.

I know what you mean, Ice. I'm afraid that no matter what game you play, there will always be those individuals who are too immature to realize that it is a game that is supposed to be fun. I'm afraid that as long as someone is given the ability to screw up the game or to ruin it for others, many people will take the opportunity. I don't know why, but they do it.
I had a similar situation (somewhat) when I used to play Day of Defeat. It was a map where you had to defend four objectives. If the opposing team (the Allies) took all four objectives, then my team would lose. I'd usually be the only one defending the last objective after the other three had already fallen. Though I'd call for help, no one would come and help me. I guess they were all interested in their scores or something, though all of the enemies were in my direction. Of course, when I could finally hold no longer, the enemy would take the objective and a few members of my team would scream the usual: "My team F'ing sucks! Why am I stuck on this team!?," etc., etc.
I don't see how people can complain if they do nothing to help the situation.
In general, my solution was to find a clan server that keeps immaturity to a minimum. Whenever I can find a server where the admins keep the peace and remove any disrespectful individuals from the server, it usually becomes my favorite and I rarely play on any other servers. I'm afraid that these servers and clans are hard to find, though.
I'm glad that I found the XMEN for this reason when we played Tribes as well as even now, when we're in between games and more involved in real life.
If the clan members of a server are as immature as you described, then it's not the server that you want to play on. You were right to leave. When someone like that has administrative powers, you don't want to give them the opportunity to use it on someone that just wants to enjoy the game. I hate to say it, but it's hard to find a server that you can enjoy without being attacked by children and immature individuals who have nothing better to do than to ruin the game for the other players. But when you do, you probably won't play on many other servers.
I'm afraid that most games are filled with troublemakers that can rarely be avoided. Why do they do what they do, I haven't any idea.
I hope you find a better server that will allow you to experience the game without others ruining it.

Same thing's happened to me, too, Ice. That's why we tend to associate in clans and play with peeps we know, which as Asha noted is harder to do in BF2.
Don't let it get to you.

But... But... I FINALLY got a good connection!
and... and.... where is everybody?
Ice - just remember, most people online are kids playing hookie from school to play. Kids think cursing and stuff is "cool" because it makes em sound important and respected and stuff. If they don't curse, they don't think anyone will listen to them.
Pat the kids on the head and tell them its "OK" to get spanked.
Seriously tho, if you are stressing out over the game, just take a break. Personally in BF2 clan honor and clan victories aren't gonna happen. So I plan on crashing cars into tanks and stuff.
I will probably get shot from exploring out of bounds a lot.
If only Tribes had stayed on pace with BF2 style play. Skiing really quickened the pace of that game, totally taking down a lot of class kits' basic functionality.
So this is what I am going to enjoy about the game. Just finding a team-mate to support on the way to the enemy base.
Damn I miss Tribes' original playstyle.

ice i know exactly what you mean. i catch alot of flak playing bf2 in pub servers - although I don't help it... I TK alot in public servers when someone does something stupid - although its not that often. Yes this is against the roots in which I come from in online gaming (DTM) but in my opinoin - DTM died a long time ago, so did its values.
The only way to get past it is to not care. I'm very heavy into competition, and I can tell you this much - 99% of the top teams in bf2 don't pub - and 99% of those who do pub don't play competition. Most of them have no clue how to act, much less play. You need to find servers that lack this kind of game play.
In BF2 I suggest the following:
bf2.swine.online
OgV CAL - Competition - RANKED - (can't remember the rest)
* This might have changed to CAL OgV - Competion - etc etc. I set up a few comeptition style only servers for other teams - much like 5150 had in Tribes 1. These are pubbed by the few in CAL who actually pub - and you can find decent gameplay there. OgV is one of the best casual servers to play on. They are heavily moderated - and they enforce rules. IE if you're the first one on the pad for the chopper/jet, you get it. if you don't the guy who stole it from you is liable to be kicked. So check out OgV's servers if you can't find a decent pub.
Also NMA's Trinitrygames.net server is ok (Trinitygames.net NMA is the name i believe)
I find it funny when people in pubs say I suck... especially since i'm leading one of the top 10 teams in North America BF2.... lol. Just proves most of them have no clue.
BTW ice, catch me on xfire. I scrim from 8pm est - whenever sun-thurs, but other than that, hit me up on xfire. if its pass locked, chances are I'm in a scrim or a match -just send me a msg and i'llg et back with ya

You could always come join me in EVE-Online, Icey.
Bit of a time investment, though.

Yeah I hate it when things like that happen. People voting to kick just to kick. Saying such and such suck. (Even if im having a bad night of playing, I mean I'm sorry you just got pounded by my bombing run but you WERE standing right next to an nmy tank.) God I have been kicked soooo many times for that one. Not being able to find friends is a definate problem with BF2 and other online games. I just hope that although they are going in the right direction with the online stats, the computer AI deciding if your a 'tard, and kicking you, they need to realize that we (most of we) play with and find buddies online and have a good time with people we know. The only other time it is currently possible is if you have a server and that sucks sometimes because you may only have one or two people in a server at times. Which is fun if your stun grenading a MPB but other times.
Things will get better mano you just gotta have on really good game every so often. Try finding a helicopter budy in maps. Thats the best fun I have in the Pubs.

Reading through this thread I'm thinking that this is the kind of stuff that went through the minds of a few people..... right before they created DTM and brought some order to the game. And some fun, too.
As for me, I miss the peeps and the times that we had but my priorities have so dramatically shifted that I really don't miss the games that much. T1 rocked, as did T2. The early days of XMEN involvement in BEML were a blast, as were my early days in DTM. But, times change and people move on. Such is life.
However, some things will never change.
/me dumps a tuna down Asha's armor and slaps RedSirus with a trout. Before leaving /me lifts Atheists mumu to show everyone that he still wears Underoos. MUAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

I can still rember when i meet Rooster and he introduced me into the world of computer games. And i can look back and see that some times my priorities were all messed up, but i can aslo rember and see all the wonderful people i meet through these games. And i just want to thank everyone for being here for me and anyone who has ever needed someone to say a prayer or what ever it be. So once again thank you for everything, and thanks Ice for building my comp. And allowing me to give almost everyone a virus at my first land.
Love, -BEAST-
PS: Do i still hold the record for spy-ware? I think Ice found like 550 or 600 on my comp one time....I AM THE PORN KING!!!!!

Ice!!!
I feel yer pain bro...I get the same thing sometimes when online. I still play Day of Defeat and get booted off for, well...for once I can say being a pretty good player. I have been on games where I cap a bunch and hold high score for it, say 100 points compared to the next guys 29 points...boom, booted.
It's a bummer. That is the one game I have become proficient at...heck I was mediocre at Tribes and T2 and had more fun than now... Oh well, I keep my chin up, get back on and continue to have fun.
I wonder if we all shouldn't start wearing the DTM tag in all our games. It sure would make finding a good game easier! While the Mercs were dedicated to Tribes for the most part, the spirit of teamplay can reign on...I say what the heck, give it a try.
...of course my Sig Rommel[DTM] would probably look kinda funny
Cya,
