It happened on bad day number eleven. (That's 11 bad days in a row... you know, the kind of day where you spend the entire day wishing you simply hadn't gotten out of bed.) Well, the day was going about like this: my car wouldn't start, I take my mom's car but don't realize that I forgot my parking pass until I'm on campus, I have $2 in my wallet (min for cash parking is like $2.50 and that's for a 1/2 hour), the University of Cincinnati is not in an area where you can park a nice car on the street, I return home, get chewed out for missing class, go back to bed, can't sleep, start up Visio. Visio is what changed my day. After getting frustrated trying to draw floorplans, circuit diagrams, and software UIs I decide that I'll try to plot out the tables where we put the plants (I work at a home and garden center). Tables are easy just scale out 3.5'x8' rectangles and copy, paste, rotate. So I had a bit of fun. I print one out and take it to work.

My supervisor gets all excited and takes it to the asistant manager who takes it to the general manager. At the end of the day I am pulled aside and told that I've been given a raise due to merit. Who would have thought that 10 minutes with Visio could end my run of bad days?

But then again.... now they want me to map out the rest of the store AND our other retail location. :)

P.S. yes, now that I'm trying to give up games again I'm down to playing with business applications

And THAT is why I prefer owning only a PC to owning only a game console. Just can't do stuff like that on such a limited-use machine.

Congrats!
