Those are some nice shots.
I seem to remember Mavicator on the oV forums is a photography nut. He might have some advice.
They look good though. The fourth one is probably the only one I would have any issues. And that's because of the lighting. It's still good though.

Hey Porsche!
I'm a Digital Photog as well.
I have Canon gear myself, so get ready to spend some serious cash.
What type of photography are you planning on getting into?
First rule for pro's .. get two of everything except lenses. I carry two camera's, 30D (new) and 10D, and have plans on getting atleast one more flash.
Most of my stuff is Nature, but I'm hoping to start some Wedding work, eventually.
Here's a shot I took a couple weeks ago.
Good luck!
If anyone want's to see more of my stuff, go to

Very cool pic of the pelican!
As soon as I can afford it I'll probably spring for another camera body; more than likely a Nikon D200. First up, however, will be a new lens. I currently have a couple of Nikor lenses; one of them is a 35-70mm, f3.5 and the other is a 70-300mm f4. Those were what I could afford at the time. My next lens will be a Sigma 120-300mm DG f2.8 (about $3k).
As for the type of photos I'll be doing, probably just about anything except weddings. I've done a few senior photo shoots along with some sports stuff. I enjoy nature and landscapes but those won't pay the bills.
I'll check out your website later.

Thanks, Asha.
Defiance - I checked out your website. Some very awesome shots. I like the avian shots, but your moon pics really got me. First of all, the second moon shot (the lighter colored one)... is it simply the same as the first moon shot, but just flipped? How'd you get that shot?

Hey Porsche,
Actually, those are two seperate shots.
One was done at night (the dark one naturally) and the other is a day shot.
Basically, I shot them with my 10D with 400mm 5.6/L with a Quantaray 2x tc attached.
For those that are interested. Don't shoot a full moon, you'll miss out on the details of the craters. Try shooting a partial so that you can get the shadows.
As for your eagle shot.. WOW! Great stuff.
The thing about lens is that if you start out trying to save cash by buying a less expensive lens, you could end up spending more money because you WILL enD up buying the more expensive one later.
Also, buy the fastest lens you can. That's where I'll be having to spend my cash next, if the wedding stuff takes off. Most of my glass is f4.0 and is a bit slow for indoor dark work. The great thing about lens, is that you can carry them over to your next camera, so the money is a good investment.
Currently, I have over $10k tied up in gear, and I'm not even close to having what I truly need.
If you like, there's a pretty good Texas Photographers forum that I visit where you can make some new friends in your area that share the passion for " Writing with Light "
