Lack of online privacy

An article on how your use of online services - including searches on Google, AOL, MSN, and so on - can be used against you, and the fact that no one knows the actual extent of the problem.

I generally like to think that every move I make online is about as public as posting in this forum. So far, my take has been that these people will have a junk-load of info about me. They know my compy specs, what I use it for, what I do online, the works. And I very rarely believe for a second that these companies wouldn't use this information however they see fit.
However, the first step to facing a problem is admitting that it is a problem. This internet stuff has so many things that can be tweaked, and many things that shouldn't be touched. The public's privacy (had to do it) is just too important and the article is right, no tech company is very happy to admit just how much info it does collect, nor how all of that information is being used.
There is a reason they call our modern age, The Information Age.
