Very powerful stuff. Be forewarned.... the images contained in this essay are not easy to look at.

This should be required viewing by the entire design and operation teams of every nuclear plant in the world. Annually. I'm sure many more such images will emerge over time and should be added.
I believe we need to harness nulcear power, so I'm not against nuke plants. But even a simple campfire requires respect and precautions - and a nuke plant of course is many orders of magnitude more powerful and dangerous. These guys need to really respect what they're dealing with; the Chernobyl engineers did not. That they could ignore all those warning signs makes me ill.

Watching it made me want to vomit. It is an important message for sure, but very, very disturbing. There's a Nuclear plant about 30 miles from me, and my parents are 3 miles from one in AZ. You don't think about what could hapen if all the safety precautions go wrong...

The thing that bugs me about Chernobyl is that the safety precautions DIDN'T go wrong - some idiot engineers overrode them.

Yep. Chernobyl is one of those "classic examples" for engineering, process safety management, and safety/industrial hygiene. Stuff from Chernobyl is part of what naval nuclear engineers get to see during their training.
