Hello from Vista!

Well, since I left UC my student license for XP is technically nolonger valid so I went and got a copy of Vista Ulitimate off of NewEgg for ~$330. So far I am pleased, but I haven't tried any games (I intend to quit gaming again) or the Japanese IME yet. Next time I am up at OSU I'll buy a copy of Office 2007 and a cheap Business Upgrade of Vista for my laptop (as well as 2 gig ram for the laptop off NewEgg).

All the geewiz gadgets and toys have kept me entertained for the last few minutes, but I still have to download my nForce drivers so I can get sound. ;)

Once I move, my desktop will become my TV and stereo system... mostly because the 22" widescreen LCD is much nicer than my brother's 15" CRT tv set. Then the laptop will be used for homework and whatnot.

So I'm almost ready (on the computer front) to move away and go back to college! YAY!

Oh yeah.... and my only problem so far was that I needed an instruction manual to tell me how to open the dang box!

テスト一二三、テスト一二三。

You got Vista Ultimate, but you're going to give up gaming?

The only reason I'd get Vista would be specifically FOR gaming. For everything else, there's Linux. ;)

Hey, it was your money. (Now Microshaft's)

BTW, would you like to buy a bridge? I happen to have one I'd sell you at a good price... ;)

Well... I live near one. Relatively speaking, of course.

And if you are not interested in one like that, I know of a few bridges with lots of sandy real estate. ;)

Only on topic as it relates to Vista:

Fix Vista's copying files over network issue by disabling a throttling service.

My bridge buying guide tells me that I should ask to see the paperwork. Unless your paperwork happens to be in crayon, I trust you.

Also, do you happen to have any wooden bridges? All mine are made from tooth picks and I am interested in going a little more "upscale" than toothpicks.

But back to Vista... it feel's very much like some of the linux user interfaces...... except I haven't managed to crash the entire OS yet (like I seem to do w/ every version of linux I've tried to date).

Tomorrow I'll have to slap in a tuner card and see what kind of TV my desktop can be. (despite bleedthrough on my 22" ws lcd... it is VERY good for playing DVDs) Also, I wonder how hard it would be to code an app for my iPAQ to turn it into a remote control for my desktop......

Like remote desktop?

Actually, you should have terminal services on your iPaq, it's the same thing but an older version.

Hah - I saw this thread and thought, Army Corps of Engineer's Bridgelayer - you buy one, and set it where-ever you like!
