Well, be aware of a massive public relations screw up by Creative Labs.
It appears now that if you had a SB card and upgraded to Vista that the drivers for the current or older cards had a host of features turned off with the Vista drivers. This was discovered by a software engineer in Brazil. So he proceeded to hack the Vista drivers and re-enabled the full feature set and gave it to the world for free. Thus earning him the wrath of Creative. If you think about it then it appears as though they were turning features off to push you to upgrading to their newer models to support Vista. Good old sneaky Marketing folks.....
I can tell you right now that he did a WONDERFUL job at making my Audigy 4 sound MUCH better under Vista.
If you want the free hacked drivers they are located here: http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/200 ... er-pack-2/
Read the entire story published on Wired.com, it is very interesting to say the least.

Their X-Fi has an awesome DSP. But I agree, Gambit... I've pretty much not gone with anything creative since I bought my X-Fi a couple of years ago. I'd rather spend my money on other things.
Creative's management is forcing the company downhill... just like a lot of companies out there these days. And anymore, onboard sound has come a long ways.
With the Daniel_K drivers available, it's possible for me to program my own drivers too.
