And I found an article with results from testing while running Linux:

I really like the push toward open drivers that AMD brought to ATI (always hated the ATI drivers!). I just wish nVidia would do the same.

Yeah. I like running ubuntu on my laptop, but the fact that I've only updated the drivers for my graphics once tells me that Nvidia either thinks the drivers are perfect or they don't care.

Well I just finished my PC upgrade by buying 2 ASUS 4890's for crossfire. $181.00 each open box from newegg.

I have had good luck with open box stuff from them so I had to make the move.

I think I'm set for a good year or two for gaming now. :D

How does that play for you?

Plays great but the fans on these ATI cards are like super turbo when gaming if its turned on auto. You can set the fan to about 35% -40% and its not to bad.
I may put different cooling on them that will be a bit quieter. They don't have much for aftermarket cooling yet for them and some of the aftermarket 4870 coolers will work. I'm not sure maybe I should of got the 295 GTX.... :D
