I bought the AMD X3 720 BE and Unlocked the 4th core and overclocked it to 3.6 $145.00 for a QUAD not bad. I also bought a Biostar T-Force Motherboard (Open Box ) for $70.00 that runs this X3. Now all I need is a new card .... I was thinking of the 4890 but my 8800GTX runs so good with this upgrade I might wait.
I forgot...... I also bought 8GB of G.SKILL DDR2 1066 memory for this machine. And I bought a Corsair 850TX power supply and the Cool masters Cosmos 1000 case.
Thats IT! Who wants to game with me now??????
My new machine

Anytime, man.
No real need to upgrade from your 8800. They should be good for a while yet - wait until something killer comes out that makes it work too hard. Then you can get a card that's faster and cheaper too.
Oh, and if you got 8 GB, you need to be running a 64-bit OS. A 32-bit OS can't see anything above 4.

Damn.. That's a sweet upgrade. I just got my new notebook, but would love to get a few upgraded pieces in this old desktop.. But the notebook is nice: Core2 Duo @ 2.53GHz, 4Gb RAM, Vista 64 Premium, 512Mb Geforce 9800 GTX, 16" screen, Blu-Ray super multi drive, and all the other goodies. 320Gb 7200 RPM hdd... Should gone for the 1Gb video, but wasn't diggin the extra $125 for it..
