Spinning Hat, You've Been Hacked

Hat,

I received an email from your hotmail account saying:

"Hello , i know this might sound odd to you but i really need your help
asap i dont mean to inconcinience you i made a quick trip to uk this
weekend from minnesota for a quick business trip and i lost all my belongings got stolen ! i really need some money
now to pay for my hotel bill and other expenses ,kindly loan me about
2500$ or any amount you can render i need this urgent pls send it to my
name on this address i will be waiting thanks i will pay you back as soon as i get in
You can reach me via May field hotel's desk phone if you can, the numbers are"

Try logging into you your online accounts and changing the passwords.

Wow.. Thanks. I haven't used that Hotmail account in years... I'll see if I can still get into it, and try to change the password up...

Just logged in to my hotmail.. Got a similar Email from Sidewinder, and haven't gotten anything from him in a long, long time. didn't see anything in my sent messages, so I'm not sure if the Email was spoofed, or if the account itself was hacked..

it was spoofed. I have gotten false emails from a few of you. :)

better spoofed than hacked, I guess. Password is still changed just because..

I've seen notices through work about hacked email's so I rather be safe than sorry when something like this happens. Most of my passwords have been changed to a pattern similar to what is required at work, which is a pain in the bottom to remember.

When I got this particular email, I had to sit and wonder where I knew the person from as it had his real name. Would have been more convincing if, 1) I haven't seen dozens of warnings about this particular scam, and 2) Hat didn't state he was with his family instead of over seas like the email indicated.
