Turtle Burgers

Post by Sharpster »

So my buddy and I received and email at work yesterday with a picture or two and a brief description of turtle burgers. We were intrigued. We then started googling an exact recipe on them to see what all was involved in making them. We found an excellent one so we decided to head to his house after work and give it a shot!

This is what we ended up with!!

Basically it is,
1/4 lb ground beef patty, handful of cheese, another 1/4 lb beef patty, more cheese, all wrapped in a bacon weave (about 1/3 lb of bacon per turtle), topped with smoky BBQ (not shown) and hotdogs for extremities. (I carved the hotdogs up 8) ) Very tasty and VERY filling :)

Did you guys lick the juices off of the pan?

Looks good, and every heart needs a good amount of lubrication, right?

....thought you were actually talking about turtle meat here. Drat.

Well, try it sometime. It's a bit gamey, but tasty.

PS: slip-jaw pliers and a hatchet are recommended to behead the turtle. Chisel and/or hacksaw to get the shell open.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying that. Just had some squirrel couple weekends back. That's always good.

I prefer wood grubs that have been eating white spruce for at least four days!

I imagine turtle's a bit like gator? Squirrel & rabbit are OK, just not much there.

Never did the grub thing. :)

If I'd been thinking clearly and was anywhere near home, I might have tried keeping the critter that did * THIS * to my truck in CA.

That was the key - the deer hit us, rather than us hitting the deer. Otherwise it probably would have been a lot worse. (Stupid deer, grumble, grumble)

The dew bottle was there to protect what was left of the window from what was left of the wiper. :)
