On a cloudy day, in the middle of a mountain ridge, a long group of enemy soldiers stoll my teams MPB before it could deploy. Our base was smashed, and they had it fortified. All hope was lost with that MPB. But there was hope, was there?<br><br> Earlyer a few wildcats were sent out to locate any enemy outposts, MPB, or vehicle movement. They still were out when the base fell, but no word was heard from them so there was no way to know if they were still alive. That was the only hope of regaining control of the base. The rest of the team that was left at the base to get ready to attack, but they had to abandon it when an overwhelming force of attackers came in, and they fled with the MPB, Three Tanks, and a couple of deployable invintory stations.<br><br> With the communication system out there was no way for the team to radio for help. So with their tails between their legs, they made their way out of the mountains to the nearest friendly base, which was a good three days march on foot but that was lengthened since they had to keep the MPB gaurded. To help ensure that they get help, they sent a Tank and a few light escorts ahead to make contact with the base. Fear grew on the troops as enemy snipers took shots at them from no where, forcing them to stop more often to repair. Soon the sniper threat grew to something even worst, there was so many that they were able to dissable a tank with a single burst.<br><br> Fearfull, tired, angry, and full of hatred the troops were, but that was their downfall. It was now five days out from the lost base, and the enemy siege on them has grown from snipers to missiles and mortars. With more delays they prayed that the tank and escorts they sent out days ago had made it to the base. Finaly one of the tanks fail, its shield generator was hit and then its power core was destroyed. Forced to leave it behind, they tregged on into the valley were they found the remains of the group they sent ahead. It appeared that they had fallen into a trap, the path was blocked and the entire ground as blackend with mortar rounds.<br><br> It was there they decided to hold their ground, moving the destroyed tank into a position to give them cover from incoming fire and moving the MPB to a covered position to deploy in. It was then that an enemy spie decloaked and jumped into the MPB. He drove off with a mad rush, running over several light armored troops, killing them. The enemy spie made his way deeper into the valley were he grouped up with a large enemy taskforce. All hope was lost as countless enemy heavy armor came marching into the valley, the front several rows firing chainguns and the rest were all firing mortars. The troops were decimated in a quick flash.<br><br> But that is not the end of the story, just the biginning. You see young feller, that the MPB those troops were escorting was not a normal one. It carried top secret plans for the ultimate attack vehicle. The enemy had heard of it and wanted it for themselfs, so they had arranged all of that just to get it, and without those gaurds knowing that the base they were heading for was the base where the vehicle was going to be built by the enemy. Owww, how I hated those days stuck out there in the mountains only to find that my base was destroyed and the plans had fallen into the enemy hands. All I found on the scouting run was empty buildings that were setup to look like active outposts.<br><br> So with great care, I had to rebuild the base in such a way that no one would know that anyone was still there, but I also needed to find out were the plans went so they can either be destroyed or reclaimed. With my trusty Wildcat, that has now been modified with a chaingun mounted on the front. I set out to the valley, following blast holes and debree from the tanks. The trail seemed like it was only made a week ago, time had not changed it much. Once I got to the location of the last stand, I realized that they had been marching right towards a enemy supply line that had started as a troop march line.<br><br>The ground was damaged from all the reasent supply movement and bombardments. There was no way to tell which way the MPB had been taken, but there was only two possible dirrections so I know I had a fifty/fifty chance. So I pulled out a map to see where the closest enemy base was, and then the closet enemy base that may have the ability to build the vehicle. The only problem was that the map was almost two years old.<br><br>In the distance, a dark storm was comming and I decided to head that way, into the storm. As I mounted on the Wildcat, the sound of engines started to grow louder and louder from the other side of the mountians. Moving the Wildcat to the other side of a cliff onto a thin ledge and turning it off the engine so I could find out who was comming without being found.<br><br>With great care, I slowly moved my head up but stopped for a moment to rub some mud onto the top so it would look like a lump of dirt. When my eyes were able to see over the cliff a wall of tanks came into view. With fear radiating through my body I stayed there watching. As the five that I saw first got closer, another set then another and another came into view. A full battalion of tanks if not more pulling their way through towards the storm, so that had to be the right way.<br><br>After the tanks moved by I started the Wildcat back up, but rubbed some mud over the front and turned off the headlight. Following them was easy since the gunners seemed to have been alseep or they thought they were safe in this area. About five hours later they stopped for a break, forming a circle with the tanks and all the pilots getting out starting a fire in the middle to make food on.<br><br>Now the gunners seemed to be wide awake. I stayed just out of sight over a few hills behind some bushes. My laser rifle was itching so much to shoot those lousy, no good, butt chewing, mud loving, brainless, no good vehicle specilist that mostlikely help kill my teammates. At that moment my luck changed, half of the tanks powered down and opened up their plasma intake manafolds. So I took the shot when no one was looking my direction.<br><br>My laser hit one of the magnetic containment coils causing the plasma to break free from the tank destroying it and killing all around it. Then I fire again shooting another tank, causing it too to explode and destroying the tank between the two plasma bombs. None of the enemy had seen the laser, so I continued to shoot the other tanks that had open up their their plasma intakes. Now a wonderful idea came into mind, 20 tanks destroyed by a laser rifle with 40 dead soldiers laying about them and any who come up to this 'monument' will shiver in their armor thinking that a large force was in their backlands.<br><br>Then again this could bring too much attention into the area and my job will be way to hard. So I set out again after going through all the bodies and tanks to see what I can salvage and what I had to work with to make traps in the area. For almost twelve hours I rode into the storm, rain came down so hard it felt like I was being shot with a chaingun, and at times it looked like I was underwater.<br><br>When the storm let up for a few minutes, I looked around for shelter but the storm had caused a flood and no dry area for shelter was in sight. Because of that I was forced to continue riding untill day brake when I found a cave where I could hide with my Wildcat for awail. "So what are you going to do, sit there eating and sleeping wail they build your baby to use aginst your people? Or are you going to turn traitor and help them build it and use it?" said a ghostly voice from the shadow.<br><br>At that moment, the wildcats engine roared into life and wist me away into the cold wet lands. The horizon was blurred by fog rolling off the flood waters, and a large movement of troops heading south towards the old base and were I had been. I thought about a book my brother had me read called 'Lord of the Rings' and figured that was easyer then what I had to do now.<br><br>Several hours later, an outpost came into view with several squadrens of shrikes sitting on launch pads. Going on land towards the enemy strongholds was taking to long and being on a wildcat ment there was no way to fight back an enemy vehicle. So I decided it was time for an upgrade, and a few donations from the locals. Now with that in mind, I set the wildcat on full speed and set forth to get to the base by night fall.<br><br>It was now day 7 since the ride from the base, and the intakes of the wildcat were clogging often, causing the the engine to cease. With only 20 kilometers, when the wildcat died for good, to the enemy outpost which appeared to have been alot closer a day ago. My armor needed maintence, chain gun was ceased as well from off the mud that dried onto it, and the disc laucher would not connect to my armors power supply so it could nolonger work. So that left me with gernades, mines, and a blaster.<br><br>An enemy scouting team came over head in a pair of shrikes. A welcoming site, in that I know that I would be picked up before I died out there alone. Now only if I had a weapon to take them out and capture their vehicles. Maybe I do.<br><br>"Why did you ever sign for the Armed Forces? You were never willing to even kill a fly enless it would not leave the house! No you expect a battalion to trust you with their lives in a fire fight!
