OK, the quick and the dead, <br>I got file sharing, printer sharing, and both computers talking. <br>On the ICS CLient, It shows the Gateway connection as<br><br>NCPlus Connected on Jester<br>and the speed, Plus I can also disconect and reconect to the internet from the ICS Client. BUT!!! I can't actually browse the internet. Any thoughts?<br> <br>I disabled XP's Dial up firewall, and Norton. To no avail. <p><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr><td><a href="http://www.thzclan.com/cam" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.thzclan.com/cam/jester/thb_ccam.jpg" border="0"></a></td><td><img src="http://www.thzclan.com/kirabby/Eebay/spam.gif" align="middle"></td><td><b><a href="mailto:jester@thzclan.com">996</a></b><br><a href=http://www.thzclan.com>Cerberus of THZ*</a><br><a href=http://www.xmenclan.org>XMEN</a><br><b><a href=http://www.dragontalonmercs.com>Dragon Talon Merc</a> </b></td> <td> <img src="http://www.thzclan.com/jester/minime.jp ... ><i>Edited by: <a href=http://pub3.ezboard.com/uxmenashamandtm ... ge=EN>XMEN Ashaman DTM</a> <img src=http://www.nickandsarah.com/xmen.gif> at: 7/18/02 11:16:26 am</i></p></p><i></i>

Re: Internet connection sharing with Dial Up
well, if you can ping the gateway box from the client box, that means your internal IP setup is good. Great. Now ping something else, like 64.48.179.30 (the MFP). If you can ping it from your client box, then your gateway IP setup is good. Which means the problem could be a browser setting. If you can ping that address, but can't ping xmenclan.org, then your DNS setup is the problem - the client doesn't know where to look to translate the names to the numbers.<br><br> <p><img src=http://www.xmenclan.org/xmengambit.gif border=0 align=left>XMEN member<br>Card-carrying DTM<br>OKL Fish-napper<br><br><br>Though a program be but three lines long,<br> someday it will have to be maintained.<br> <i>- The Tao of Programming</i><br>Life is complex; it consists of real and imaginary parts.</p><i></i>

Re: Internet connection sharing with Dial Up
the gateway ip is the same as the router ip. Should it be the ip of the ICS host? <p><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr><td><a href="http://www.thzclan.com/cam" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.thzclan.com/cam/jester/thb_ccam.jpg" border="0"></a></td><td><img src="http://www.thzclan.com/kirabby/Eebay/spam.gif" align="middle"></td><td><b><a href="mailto:jester@thzclan.com">996</a></b><br><a href=http://www.thzclan.com>Cerberus of THZ*</a><br><a href=http://www.xmenclan.org>XMEN</a><br><b><a href=http://www.dragontalonmercs.com>Dragon Talon Merc</a> </b></td> <td> <img src="http://www.thzclan.com/jester/minime.jp ... </p><i></i>

Re: Internet connection sharing with Dial Up
ok, so i did a tracert from my ics client to the inet<br>and it reports to the router. <br><br>1. <1ms <1ms 192.168.1.1<br>2. <br><br>192.168.1.1 Reports destination net unreachable. <br><br>So I think my router is trying to access the inet from it's WAN instead of sharing my downstairs dial up connection. Any thoughts?<br> <p><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tr><td><a href="http://www.thzclan.com/cam" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.thzclan.com/cam/jester/thb_ccam.jpg" border="0"></a></td><td><img src="http://www.thzclan.com/kirabby/Eebay/spam.gif" align="middle"></td><td><b><a href="mailto:jester@thzclan.com">996</a></b><br><a href=http://www.thzclan.com>Cerberus of THZ*</a><br><a href=http://www.xmenclan.org>XMEN</a><br><b><a href=http://www.dragontalonmercs.com>Dragon Talon Merc</a> </b></td> <td> <img src="http://www.thzclan.com/jester/minime.jp ... </p><i></i>

Re: Internet connection sharing with Dial Up
Ok, so if you aren't using the router to access the 'net, then you shouldn't be using the WAN port at all. (You actually could, but we won't get into that for the time being.) You will need to set the gateway address on the second computer manually (first computer being the one with the dialup connection) to its internal IP (the one that starts with 192.168...) . You may even have to disable DHCP on the second computer and set all of its internet settings manually - let us know if you can't add the gateway and we can walk you through it, I think.<br><br> <p><img src=http://www.xmenclan.org/xmengambit.gif border=0 align=left>XMEN member<br>Card-carrying DTM<br>OKL Fish-napper<br><br><br>Though a program be but three lines long,<br> someday it will have to be maintained.<br> <i>- The Tao of Programming</i><br>Life is complex; it consists of real and imaginary parts.</p><i></i>
