One of the recommendations from this page:
http://www.anandtech.com/guides/showdoc.aspx?i=2794&p=4
One of the ones that fits your system (AGP or PCI or PCI-express).

8x AGP board 1gig ram AMD 2600+ XP
ASUS board..
ok so whats the real diff between a 256 Geforce 6800 and a 128 Geforce 6600GT?
I can't seem to find a 256 Geforce 6600 GT I think I remember reading that the GT out performs all other 6000 series and the 7000 series are still over 300 dollars.

Yes. The GT is better. The 6600 is probably the best bet unless you go all out and get new hardware for everything.

If you are gonna stick with the agp board for a while i would suggest this:
XFX PVT70KUAD7 Geforce 7800GS 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail
16 pipelines compared to the 8 with the 6600.
But if you are gonna go with pci express soon, then get a cheap 6600gt card to get you by. Due to the price of the 7800gs which is the same as a new 7800 or 7900 pci board, which will get ya to 20-24 pipelines.

Getting to the point where it's worth getting a new mobo so you can get the pci-e graphics, and the cost comes out about even. The video card price guide on Anandtech there condenses the market into 4 pages (price point ranges).

I'm thinking either the 7800GT or 7900Gt... I'm getting pretty close to just buying a new card and telling Leadtek what they can do with their crappy service, and where they can stick it....

If you're going to go for that kind of performance, why not just upgrade the whole system though?

My System:
Athlon 64 3500+
1Gb PC 3200 DDR
GeForce 6800Ultra
2 160Gb WD SATA HDD's
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo
I'm to the point wit Leadtek to just buy a new vid card, and maybe sell this one...

Ok.. Time to play would you rather... Would you rather buy the
XFX Geforce 7600GT or the
eVGA GeForce 7600 GT KO Edition and why? They're about $1 difference, and the XFX gives about 10Mhz more in speed, whether that'd be enough to see a real difference in games is doubtful, do you go for bragging rights, or save the buck? (I'm not a real big rebate kind of guy.. Mine always seem to be rejected for one reason or another... Both their warranties are excellent, much better than Leadtek's standard 1 year....
BTW - once I RMA this 6800 Ultra, I think I'll be putting it up for sale if anyone is interested, I paid $459 for it last October, willing to sell it cheap to try and recoup some of the cost of the 7600GT... I've got the newegg reciept in PDF Format if anyone cares to look at it.... LOL
