All seeing eye has a buddy list for every game it supports, including BF, T2 and most other FPS on the market today.

A link again for those that might have missed it:

www.udpsof ...

They are also begining to partner with game developers, so hopefully we will start to see some games use ASE in place of GS.

-LoS-Malthus

Lords of Steel

"Thats 25 points, a 2 point conversion and eternal damnation"

My thoughts
Ok...played for 2 days straight....

Servers seem laggy (you are experiencing connection problems, please wait) blah blah blah, but this is only on the EA. Dont know if it its PL, but I was pinging 50-70. Thoughts?

Also, how can you see your frame rates in this game. I have never been obsessed with frame rates, but the game just feels choppy, especially when there are alot of people and vehicles in the same vicinity. Its hard to snipe, cause of the lag/chopiness at times.

I noticed you had to patch to play online, but are there any other scheduled patches to fix bugs, lag, etc coming out in the future?

What about scripts, skins, mods? Do they apply, does anyone care? Just trying to get ideas. I like the game the way it is. I think scripts and mods are what ruined t2. Dont get me wrong, most of them were ok, but it was almost a necessity to have them in T2. From the mod perspective look what its come to, CLASSIC BLAH!!!!!

As it stands, I think the game is awesome. its fun, graphics are kick ass, and once you really learn to fly those planes, that is where the fun begins (I practiced flying for like 3 hours last nite...LOL )

The only thing I wish it had was a little bi more gore. I mean, you hit someone with a bomb, there bodies are gonna do more than just fly...lol , but I know kids play this game, so I can deal with it. I know RTCW and SOF2 are a little more gorey, but just wish BF was the same.

The last question I had, is with competition ladders. How do you think competition will pan out with this game in comparison to t2. Conquest seems to be more popular than ctf or TDM. What do you think about strats, team size etc. Is XMEN gonna start a clan (if so can I play?). Just trying to get a real feel of what this game is gonna be. Pubs and competition are two seperate animals.

BTW, I saw ZOD, Tristan and a few others in the pubs... I also saw some guy named Iceman, but he never responded to the chat that I was typing. My screen name is Subpar, so lookie me up...

thats a wrap, howd ya like that!!!!!!!

Re: My thoughts
It's definitely got its share of bugs, and the netcode needs work, but considering the scope of the thing I think they did very well.

I see it as something the XMEN could move into. Whether we will or not - who knows.

There is a console command to view frame rates, but I'm not sure what it is. I also discovered an obvious debug setting in a config file that shows all sorts of text on the screen while you're playing, and it includes frame rate, but it REALLY slows things down and is not fun.

If you'd like to see what shooting at someone SHOULD be like, play the single player game. Your hit percentages go way up. That just demonstrates the netcode's problems.

About single player: The AI are pretty idiotic sometimes (like just sitting in a jeep), though they'll get deadly accurate with their weapons if you turn them up. And then they'll chew through a LOT of CPU resources.
XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long,
someday it will have to be maintained.
- The Tao of Programming
Life is complex; it consists of real and imaginary parts.

Re: My thoughts
Ohhh thats a lot to cover...lets see if I can help.

- I don't go near EA servers. They stink, period. They run terribly and they are filled with morons 90% of the time. Lately if we aren't on the LoS server, we haave been playing on Merphy's War (the spelling is intentional ) and a [COFR] server. We've had good games on either and they run well.

- No other patches announced, but the game has been out only a week and a half. The developers are on vacation, or so we've been told, but they are aware of some of the problems and had begun working on the next patch before they left. I'm certain we'll see another patch, it's just a question of when.

- Skins, Scripts, Mods....haven't seen anything about em, but I didn't really use em in T2 so I haven't really gone looking.

- Gore, it's an EA and they wanted a Teen rating, just like MOH:AA. Maybe there will be a patch, maybe not, again I don't even notice.

- I think competition is going to be hard for this game because it is so demanding hardware wise. This extends right to the dedicated server hardware. It takes a fat pipe and good hardware to run a server with a decent amount of people. Add in the bitching that always goes along with playing in competition and it would be very hard.

Hope that helps, and hope to see you online!

-LoS-Malthus

Lords of Steel

"Thats 25 points, a 2 point conversion and eternal damnation"

Re: My thoughts
I am full of questions....

taking your advice, i played on the Texas Connection server last nite. there were a lot of peeps on there that i recognized from t2 (rx, tristan,)....

There was the one dude, or 3 actually, who thought it was fun to TK. Combined, they had a negative 400 points. It was retarded...

My question is...

How do you vote to kick? Or vote to do anything like change a map?

Re: My thoughts
There are none of those features. Your only hope is that the server admin is there to do something about it.

Tribes Clan DB - List your Tribes1/2 Clan, Guild, Fansite, League, or Script site
SnookNet Web Design - My web building adventures
Dragon Talon Mercenaries - Online Gaming Guild
PlanetTribes - Sp3ci@l pr0jekts

Re: My thoughts
Unfortunately Gryphon is correct, only an admin can start a vote to kick, or just kick someone. I'll also tell you that in my experience so far, it's not even easy to set up so someone can have remote admin (rcon in the HL games), in fact it's damn challenging. Most of the time the commands fail to execute, so unless you have another way of accessing the server, you can't kick anyone. I'm fortunate that I have PCAnywhere access to the LoS server, but a lot of admins are very frustrated right now.

We are all hoping that DICE/EA listens and fixes some of the admin problems with the next patch.

-LoS-Malthus

Lords of Steel

"Thats 25 points, a 2 point conversion and eternal damnation"
