lol @ Sharp. Don't be afraid, the worst it will do to you is make you buy the game and join in the conversation with your own adventures. The least it will do is give you something to laugh at, once in a while.

Wildchild, the Kha'ak sectors are seperated from the rest of the universe so you can't just fly into them without buying their coordinates and then jumping into them. The Xenon sectors are easy to fly around. If you want to get out to where the Nova is but avoid the Xenon sectors, start from the Split Core sectors (such as Thuruk's Beard) and head east. For this example head North from Thuruk's Beard to Rhonkar's Fire then east to Cho's Defeat. From there head south and east until Scale Plate Green. Head east, passing through Omicron Lyrae, and ending up in Black Hole Sun. Head south and then east until Grand Exchange. The Nova is only 4 sectors away, two south one east and then another south.

If you want help in finding the gate from Maelstrom to the first unknown sector and then from the first unknown to the second, just ask. It took me a while to find the first one again because of the pea soup you fly through. If you want to get to the other side of Xenon Sector 598 or 472, start from Family Whi and take the east gate. From there you have access to 2 more free ships with no problem, but there is a third that is in an Unknown sector beyond a "Core" Xenon sector. The Xenon sectors in the upper right corner of the universe are what I refer to as core sectors for them.

There are 7 Xenon sectors and 5 Kha'ak sectors. 3 of the Xenon sectors are along good trade lanes, if you want to take the risk. If you follow the first path I said then you will have no problems going around the universe with the Split Core sectors being the hub.

If you want to risk life and limb, you can try to get the free ships in the lower left corner of the universe. One is in an Unknown sector a few sectors away from Paranid owned Cardinal's Domain (a Pericles Vanguard). There is another one in the Boron sectors beyond Cardinal's Domain (a Mako Raider).

You realize you've got 13 pages of this topic now, making it one of, if not THE, longest thread in XMEN forum history?

I think it is great. Those who play can throw in their adventures and ideas on how to succeed, and those who don't play can get inspired. Its great.

If the game wouldn't crash on my when I docked with Stations, I'd have stories to tell... Oh well. Maybe one day.

Um ok... huge problem. I was unable to get out of Teladi Gain without being blown apart by the Teladi Police and two huge carriers which I didn't see the second one as it was hidden. So I restarted from a pervious autosave. Didn't attack the Boron in Teladi Gain, instead I went to The Void to pick up the Harrier.

On the way there when I jumped through to the Void I ran right into three Xenon N... took me a bit (I'm real rusty) but I fragged all three. But not before they took my hull down to 35% on my primary ship. I had to play a little gate hide and seek with them and bounce back and forth a few times to seperate them, but I finally got them taken out.

I get a few thanks from the Teladi there and get my Harrier and send it back to my temp home base in Teladi Gain. I vainly look for a yard where i can repair my ship but I think I can only do that in Argon Territory if I am not mistaken. So I begin the long trek over there, going to stop off in Seizewell first at the shipyard and work my way to Menelous Frontier, for the other free ship.

I make it to Ceo's Buckziod and I have a huge problem. I get to the center of the sector and get swarmed by nine Xenon ships, L, N, and M. I try and run for it but even when I switched to my buster and upgraded it so it had a faster top end, they still caught up to me and took me apart.

I kept seeing more and more enter the system from Menelous Frontier before I bought it. Crazy to think the Xenon are on the move so high up in the sectors already and I have only been playing for about 2 hours total game time, if not a max of three.

I may revert to my original save in Teladi Gain and try harder to outrun them as i still have two more capped ships other than the Dolphin that keeps getting destroyed. Now everytime I try and cap a Boron ship it drops ten Fighter Drones and wont bail. Even if I destroy the drones first it just drifts patienly waiting for me to destroy it. We will see what I do next.

Spinning Hat, have you done a reinstall? reinstall and load all of the patches before even loading? Perhaps there is a conflict. Only other options I can think of it post it in the help board in the Egosoft forums. Most of the time they are decent enough folk.

I haven't tried a re-install.. I'll have to do that and I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Well, I have done something that I wish I could reverse.

I updated to the last patch from Egosoft and OMG... do I wish I could reverse it.

I capped another Boron dolphin transporter in Family Whi. Of course it did its spiel of Call the Empress and send me some fighter support. Didn't think of it much. But the fact that I just came from Menalaes Frontier and was sumarily told to leave or my atoms would be spread acros the system I figured they were upset at me. I took the Hauler and ran with a lot of pissed off Boron ships on my tail. I make it to Family Whi and cap the boron ship. I see a bunch of red ships flying toward me, all Boron. Mako's and whatnot. So I run to the east gate and jump acros the system.

I get in, can't remember the name but its under the Vault. I get mid way and destroy another Boron ship. I got a lot of cargo drops from it I was happy. I also got a pirate buster. ALmost to the east gate I see three Orca's jump in with each having a wing of four fighters for support. I run like mad. Next sector all is clear and in Split territory I think.

I see another pirate, a pirate buster, and almost capped it but got over zealous. When I get to the middle I see those damn Orcas jump through again, so I continue to run, hoping to find an errant Xenon or Khaak fleet I can lead them too. I jumped into the next sector and was swarmed by pirates. They gated in in groups of five, like four of them and they all went bee-line for me. Needless to say I didn't last long. With this new update everyone seems ot have very itchy trigger fingers. Pisses me off. I capped three ships that night and got the Hauler and lost it all to a bunch of pirates. I was running to their base to hide even.

Oh well, try a new tactic next time.

That patch has been out since April. I have been playing under it the entire time. The crazyness is the games way of rebalancing the universe. Once it meets the new requirements set by the update then everything should return to normal.

Are you sure the Boron fleet was actually after you? They may have been on an invasion run for the Split territory since they are enemies. As for the Pirates that has always been in the game. I have wipped out a couple of Pirate forces with my flight wing. I have even seen the Argons launch an invasion force into a Xenon sector, where they were destroyed and the Xenon were all over the goods left behind.

Thats the problem I have no flight wing. Most of my ships that are in good condition are the freebies and they are not fighters, they are transports with the exception of the buster which I am flying in. My mamba is still nursing injuries.

I have 583 credits to my name after the upgrades I did to my buster after selling off all of the goods from my Hauler. But Im a poor momo right now.

I hate selling ships if I dont have to but damn Im poor. I may have to sit back and get two of my transports up and running for trading, get some cash and set them to ST right now... between the Split and the Teladi I should be fine. Unfortunately I can't get to Argon space without flying through Boron or Pirate space and both are hating me atm.

You really don't have the money to start trading without selling ships.

If I was in your position I would fly to Rhonkar's Clouds (3 sectors south of Family Whi and one sector east) and try to capture pirates to sell in the ship yard just north. If you can get your race relations high enough you can buy the police lisense and a frieght scanner and really crack down on the pirates. Once you get that far you can have a frieghter pick up the spaceweed the hidden pirates will be dropping as you attack them.

If you really want to get to an Argon Sector, continue past Rhonkar's Clouds and you will eventually fly into Omicron Lyrae which has an Argon Shipyard and Equipment Dock. At least there you are far away from Boron and Pirate Sectors, but close to Xenon sectors to get some good missions offered at stations. You can get the second Buster Sentinal in Treasure Chest, east of Omicron Lyrae, and then get the Nova past Maelstrom. Once you have those two ships all you have to do is get them all armed and equipped right. That will be all the fire power you need to handle most wandering pirates, not all but most. If your still at war with the Paranid you can head south of Wastelands until you enter their space and capture loads of ships, both Paranid and Boron. I have yet to be attacked by any real defense forces belonging to the Paranid as I was capturing nearly 20 ships in that one sector.
