Ok, so I'm on Mission 5, the one where you need to protect the CAAL-SHTO from being destroyed after the Bentusi so selfishly destroy themselves and everyone around them. I've played through this scenario about 5 times now, and I've failed all 5 times... What are some good strats you guys use to get these infected ship destroyed in the quickest amount of time?<br><br>I don't have a problem with resources, and I build support modules and research everything I can as soon as I can.... But I do know this: Using Your Ramming Frigates on the Infected Command ship is a BAD idea. I lost 3 at one shot one time, and it was a bastard. I tried sending workers over to repair the CAAL-SHTO, But they were intercepted and infected, and they had some nasty energy weapons. It wasn't pretty. I like hive frigates, and ion frigates. I also use an ASSLOAD of fighters (the APC's? the ones that are two combined...forgot the name) Then I research the hell out of things. The fighters run a screen against incoming ships (I prefer claw formation, and aggressive tactics), with the frigates moving in to support. You'll want to get your frigates to engage the bigger ships. Then I just keep building tons of fighters to act as interceptors... I send out squadrons of at least ten at a time. I can't remember if you can get the FF's going or not on this one. I don't get any Ion frigates or Hive Frigates yet, or any Force Fields. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :( --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":("><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> I try to use the Acolytes as interceptors because of their speed and their ability to get where they need to be in a hurry. the Corvettes are too slow most times to be of any use, except as a follow on wave... I am gonna head in again and see what I can do differently, but it's tough. Hmm...<br><br>Then I wonder what the hell mission I was thinking of....<br><br><br>I thought I remembered <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>exactly</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> what you were talking about.<br><br><br>Just use a bunch of Acolytes then, and attack in squadrons of no less than ten. The multi-gun corvettes are useful against many targets. But I prefer working two or three squadrons against the enemy. Acolytes and ACV's were the key. 2 waves of missiles from the Acolytes destroyed the Infected Command Ship, and 1 wave more sent the carrier away.
