GG's. Damn Gambit... He had to have 50 little recons and mimics all over the damn place.... Nowhere to run.... especially if all you have is 1 carrier.... But our Guerrilla tactics were not in vain... we made him work hard for his victory, and expend many assets in finding us, and killing us. I know he was probably frustrated more than once.... hehehe <img src=

Yikes. What a game.

I was the Beast, and Asha and Hat were Somtaaw. Resource infusions were on and research was off, so I quickly built a couple carriers and a couple cruisers and hunted down Asha's mothership. Despite a couple of hits from siege cannon and a traffic mixup at the slipgates, my forces brought his mothership down quickly, though I lost all my support modules in the process. He wasn't eliminated, though, so I knew he had a carrier. Then it was Hat's turn. When he fired his siege cannon at me, I knew where his mothership was and moved to destroy it. Hat was a little tougher since he'd built an extra dreadnought, but I concentrated on the mothership and took it out. The resulting explosion finished off his dreadnought and two of my three cruisers. I started building replacements, but now I had to find those blasted carriers...

At this point, if not before, my enemies allied against me. When I spotted them activating a slipgate I headed that way. I managed to destroy a dreadnought or a destroyer before it passed through the gate, but lost a cruiser myself. That was perfectly acceptable, since I could build more and my enemies couldn't.

Two hours later, I had them down to one carrier each. We'd ambushed each other countless times, hyperspacing in and out of combat all over the map. The tensest moment for me was one particularly heated battle in the precise center of the map (Anvil), which was a focus of slipgates and resources. Someone's captial ship had blown up, taking all but one of my cruisers, all my support ships, and very nearly destroying my mothership as well. I quickly started building workers to repair my "main self" and got it hobbling away from the nexus, using my active carrier and damaged cruiser for cover. The allies quickly discovered my weakened condition and send reinforcements, primarily hive frigates, as quickly as possible. They attacked the mothership directly, very nearly finishing her off before my swarm of workers got properly started. Then they started destroying the workers, but the infection beams saved the day by turning enough of the attackers into defenders.

But now the allies had decided on a mimic suicide attack to quickly destroy my captital ships. They'd successfully tested it on my active carrier. They'd build a fleet of mimics held inside their carriers, then launch them all at once when I came to investigate. They'd immediately begin ramming the nearest super-capital ship while warping their carriers out of reach of my cruisers. While an excellent tactic to surprise me with, it was not difficult to defend against once I was prepared to quickly mop up the mimics. A better tactic might have been to warp to the location of my mothership while my forces were drawn away, deploy the suicidal little buggers, and fight as long as possible to ensure my mothership's destruction. As it was, it became a matter of deploying enough recon drones to cover the map and chasing them though enough hyperspace jumps to run them out of resources. Eventually the cat-and-mouse game was ended.

Good game!

(BTW - I never did get mimics. I dunno if they're immune to infection or what. Had to rely on recons, but I did have a few cloaked fighters running around. I did capture hive and multibeam frigates from you, though...)

<img src="
