HeatSink and Fan ? Under 50 bucks. The Alpha coolers consistently rank among the top coolers, along with the Swiftech. Available here: <a href="http://www.coolerguys.com/Merchant2/mer ...  Although the silverplated Akasa Silver Mountain II with Delta fan is VERY nice. You might look at that one. This Swiftech is rated as one of the highest: <a href="http://www.coolerguys.com/Merchant2/mer ...  This Zalman is fairly new and is pretty wicked also: <a href="http://www.coolerguys.com/Merchant2/mer ...  I would personally probably go with the Swiftech. next question, how do i get the old one off? You'll have to push the release clips on the side out, then the bracket holding the heatsink down should come off. The fan you shouldn't have to worry about since you can usually get that off with the heatsink. Remember to clean the processor of the old thermal compound. Peel it off, or rub it off. yeah, thats what I was wondering, if the the compound has to come off, I am pretty sure it's just one of those new adhesive thermal sticky pads, so it should all come right off. And when you apply your Arctic Silver - make sure you don't get any onto the connections on the top of the ceramic; keep it on the chip only. I think Hammer and Ice may have blown a CPU that way. Hey, Jester, I have a stock AMD heatsink and fan lying around that I don't need. (And will probably never use.) I also have a GlobalWin CAK38 Copper heatsink and fan, but it's noisy as hell. (It's one of the reasons that I got my water cooled system.) Jester, When you take that old heatsink compound off, I use the stuff they sell to remove gum, etc. I believe it is "Goof Off" or something like that. And I use a credit card or flat plastic to scrape on it while it is soaking in that stuff. No metal edges, can scar the surfaces and you don't want anything to ruin the smoothness. Also, when you apply new compound, use a credit card to make it thin. Too much will actually make it become an insulator and ruin the thermal advantage. And like Gambit said, Thanks Gambino for the bad memory <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> , make sure that no compound goes off the edge of the chip and onto any other contacts. AMD chips have little overclocking contacts on the silicon, stay away from those with the compound. If you do get some on them, use alcohol or the Goof Off to remove it. I use Q-tips for that.
