HELP :)

I use Firefox normally as my default browser, and as of a couple of days ago it just like stopped connectin and finding and websites .... but IE works ... ( Which im on ).

Anyone have any ideas how to get it to work ? 'Cause I hate IE and and firefox has all my bookmarks

export your bookmarks and reinstall firefox? What version of FF do you have?

Not heard of that one. I use Firefox pretty exclusively at home. Office machine is locked down at IE v5. (ACK)

Didnt help :-/ still doesnt connect or find my homepage...

And to anwser you question I had Firefox 1.0 to begin with SH

Check your connection settings.

Tools->Options->Connection settings

Make sure it's set up the same way as your IE. Probably "Direct connection to the internet, " etc.

What is your homepage? Are you saying it won't cennect to any pages through firefox? Firefox is all I use now, and I haven't had a problem with it at all.

My hompage is yahoo, which wont work.

And then I re-downloaded it like you mentioned and it was their site and wouldnt connect either.

And he is a ss of the 2 option menus that gambit stated. Think they are the same ...

I dunno what I should do ...

Well the First part is the message if gives me, underneath the black line is at the bottom of the screen where it normally says somthing like

Waiting for (site).....
Connecting to (site)....

But as you see it says looking for and it doesnt wanna find it ....

The site thats my homepage is theirs currently, because of the fact that I reinstalled and havent played with that yet.

But when I first encountered this problem my homepage was www.yahoo.com ... so I know that it has nothing to do with the name being wrong as the message implys ....

hmmm so help me out if you can

Damn, I dunno d00d.... I can't figure out why you're having this problem. Did you happen to check for spy/malware and viruses? You never know what that stuff might do.

Well lately ive been running Lavasoft Adware, Spyware Search and Destroy and AVG Antivirus, and ive gotten rid of all the stuff it has found so i have no idea either. hmm

There is a file called "hosts" somewhere in your windows directories. There may be more than one. Search your hard drive, not just the windows directory, for the file. Open them up in notepad (or your fave text editor) and let me know if there are any that have more than this:

Also getting rid of that spyware ive run Ad/spy-ware programs numerous time, each time it is getting it all or so it says. How can I actually get rid of ALL of it

If there was an easy answer to that, the spyware-killers would have a much easier time of it.

I don't see a problem with your hosts stuff. The lines that start with a # are comments, so no worries there.

It's got to be either a virus/spyware or a setting within Firefox. When you uninstalled, did you kill it completely? (not save any settings, etc.)

What did you do on your PC the day it stopped working? What websites did you visit? Anyplace you hadn't been before?
