Wow, I tell you what. if any of you were stuck in the promotion slump this will cure it. I logged in alst night and was promoted twice, got two unlocks, and two new service ribbons. In five minutes. Actually my promotions came back to back. I revived a fallen soldier got promoted to corporal, then killed an enemy with a grenade, then revived another fallen soldier and got promoted to Sgt.

All I saw in the servers last night were Sgt, Gunnery Sgt, even a master Sgt. And one insignia that looked like an officers insignia but I couldnt be sure as I only saw it for a second.

Getting points seems harder now than it did before. Dunno, with the mass unloacks now out the more powerful weapons are being used and its hell.

It's probably just backlog. I'm guessing they adjusted the promotion scales, and so according to the new scale you've got enough points to be a (Sgt, or whatever). So your Lance gets promoted just for sneezing, until the promos catch up to the new scale.

I was getting frustrated at how long it was taking me to get promoted, now I went up 2 levels.

I LOVE the 50 cal Barrett sniper rifle! Finally I can do some damage to helicopters as a sniper.

I am finding out that I am a pretty decent commander also. I like it.

Well accept me on XFire so I can find you Ice, you too Gambit. When I get a chance I will be working on getting some of the ribbons and medals I missed trying vainly to get promoted.

Why did no one tell me they had a Wake Island map in this patch? I was finally able to play the thing last night. Got my promos, got my unlocks (medic and sniper), and played for a while. Must admit to being a little rusty... I do like the unlocked medic gun, tho. :) It's the one that's supposed to be so deadly accurate. Eventually I made it back out to the server list and I saw a ton of "Wake Island" maps being played.

I thought it was nice for DICE to put that old classic back in. It's all redone with the BF2 graphics and looks sweet. However, in the couple of games I played last night, the US never really got a foothold on the island. And you can't move the carrier anymore (I guess, I was on the other side) so the big guns can't pound the defensive positions. Could be that the US side just has to have a really good fighter pilot and that's what they lacked, but we'll see.

I have played Wake Island were the US come in full force and virtually wipe out the enemy force fast. If the ycan get both fighter planes in the air, or one good fight pilot and a good drew on the helo then be prepared to fight for every inch of that island. Being a commander on the Chinese side is difficult at best as it so small and to pummel the carrier with artillery is fun yet useless as soon as the US get a flag on the island to spawn at. If you can keep them from gaining a foothold then you can pound their base to no end.

I personally dont like the map, but thats just me.

And Gambit... the DVD still works. Its possible that the game just looks for the DVD/ CD on start up but doesn't actually read anything. Keeps people from trying to hack it I suppose.
