Most notable XMEN or DTM Tribes/Tribes2 playing memories
Reading through Scorch's thread made me start remembering some great times playing Tribes with you'se d00ds. What are some of your most cherished memories about playing Tribes/Tribes2 with XMEN and/or DTM? Was it going through the application process to become DTM? I'll never forget the games where I picked up RedSirus's *Sponsor*. He smurfed me under the name, "Oberon". We had a blast!
Or, the time in Tribes2 when I stole an enemy MPB and wrecked it in a crack in the ground. The vehicle could not be destroyed, nor could it be driven out. It became useless to the other team.
There are many more memories (LAN parties, matches, etc.) but I don't have time to write them down here at work.
What can the rest of you come up with? Let's call this our virtual Tribes/XMEN/DTM scrapbook, if you will.

When Ambush Bug and I defended the tower on Deathbirds Fly as two heavies and they only got the flag once, Rooster and Firebird were making their runs hell and it had to be one of the most intense battles I can remember.
Mid-Air body blocking incoming Heavies on a run and frustrating the heck out of them.

My first lan i ever went to. I killed Ice like 3 times in heavy w/ a mortor, i think he was mad but just played it off. Or the time when i chased the flag carrier almost all the way back to his base, got a mid air disc on him, then some other guy piced it up and i shocklanced him in the back and then finally another guy picked it up and took off, so i chained him down. yea i was the shit one time.....now i suck!

I didn't play much of Tribes 2 and I honestly don't remember much of the good old Tribes 1 days (I have a very bad memory ) except that I went by Viper and that those were the best games that I've ever played of my computer gaming experience.
I do remember some of the tricks that we pulled during matches and coming up with flag capping routes. The one trick that I remember went a little like this:
I forget what the map was called, but there were two bases in a snowy valley. One of our flag cappers would try to take the flag and get as far as he could with it. Another would be sitting behind a hill right behind the enemy base (the flag was on the top of the base). If the first flag capper failed and died, the second would take off and go for the flag right when it was returned. By this time, the enemy's defense was in the middle of the map and the flag was free to be taken without much trouble. The flag capper would go around the sides of the valley to get back to base with out much resistance from the enemy. I remember we pulled that trick quite a few times before the enemy caught on.
Those were the good days. I miss Tribes 1.

Lots of good times in this game(HD is loaded w/ recordings which I refuse to delete):
Every late night 5 Assed Monkey server game w/ SideWinder.
Crazy close call flag returns/caps for XMEN/Soup/Apotheosis match.
Soup vs. FS BEML championships with us losing first map 3-2, second map us winning 5-1, then last map coming to a tie at 1-1.
First time breaking 50 kills and 1k score on Beggars Run in 5AM server.
(37 back lances)
Lots more hit me up for some old match recordings if any of you like

Deathbirds Fly! THAT was the map where I stole the nme MPB.
Ah, yes... the LAN parties. I remember the first one I hosted at my house. XMENRakor was kind of new to the game and I kept taunting him to come out and duel me so that I could kill him and replenish my ammo.
I remember the early days of BEML, hating like heck when Saracen would keep the solar panels down in Rollercoaster. That guy was an ace in the Scout Flyer.
One of the most fun times I ever had was in scrimming against S&M. The first ever XMEN scrim against another clan was when we played against these guys with the Ultra Renegades 3 mod. Next, we played them in the regular Renegades mod. Those were great times.
Speaking of Ultra Renegades 3... I loved the rail guns in there. Instant kill, baby!

This month marks the one year anniversary of osis’s retirement from t2. In light of the occasion we will be hosting our first ever “Official” Osis t2 Pick up reunion!!
This event will take place Saturday, November 12th, starting around late afternoon and continue until everyone passes out on their keyboards. All past and present osis members as well as other oldschool t2 basers are invited.
The PU will be held on osis’s old base server “Team Apotheosis Milf Bowl” which will be brought back to life for the night curtsey of devo. Our ts2 server will also be up for those who want to jump on.
Ip: tsosis.colorado.edu:8767
pwd: snugglebunny
We will stick to out of the box maps so all you need to do is to go search for that old t2 disc, grab DT here and we’ll see ya on the 12th.
Also, any non-osis reading this, make sure to spread the word to all your old t2 clan mates and such and check back here for updates as the event gets closer.
See ya all there

Help me remember, guys. I'll try to make it Saturday.
One I remember was the T2 map Blue Moon where we totally suckered the IRS team. This was due to the practice runs our O had made with quick-loading a transport, and then we were able to pwn their hanger building for almost the entire map. I was on D, so I personally didn't see much action, but it was a lot less busy than that map was typically.

I remember
I remember when I was still going through the application process I got a mid-air head-shot laser rifle on Iceman I think it was. It was back in T1 on the map that had two pyramids and no inv stations. Everyone was exclaming what an awsome shot it was. I didn't have the heart to tell yall how lucky it was..... I had AOL Dial-up at the time
Definatly had fun on both with yall. Tank warz were awsome. Defending with AB was cool. Getting trounced by Sidewinder not so much. Still remember that boy nailing me to a wall each and everytime I went up against him. Scaring Sledgehammer to death (literally) with cloaking pac and shocklance. Being the third in the bomber keeping the flares going. And oh yeah running away from everyone with my crappy computer in T2 while trying to grab flags real quick cap them without getting killed and paying out a jackpot in stolen flags.

I remember when these were first said by XMEN Chainsaw.
On an odler note, before I joined the XMEN, I was in a House Forsaken and the most memorable match I ever played, we lost by one cap. It was on Ice Ridge that went ot the last second of the map. I was playing HO/LD, we had a five minute battle at our base for both flags. This was literally the last five minute and we were fighting to tie it. Both kept being grabbed and dropped within ten feet of each other. My hands were sweating so bad they kept slipping on the mouse. I remember feeling an audible sign from EVERYONE, even the other team when time expire and they won. Comments of "5 minute break, SMOKE BREAK, I need a cig!" from everyone, including the other team was classic. They even hopped on our RW to congradulate us on that map, and it was the first one, we won the second but lost out in OT on the third. That was probably the funnest matches I have ever played in, and we lost by a single point. It was worth the loss I think to have that memory. Good times to be had by all my friends.
Glad I shared it with some of you.
I remember so many games. I remember when I went to play for the Templars and we had just retired I think. No you guys played on a different league so I was able to sub in for you once. I think it was in BEML. I remember playing DBF with you guys and running my ususal TWL/OGL HO spam routes. I don't recall the person wh osaid it or the team we were playing. But I remember vividly after I took out half a base from 800 meters away someone on their team said, "I didn't know you could do that." Someone commented I was going to far yet when they came to check me I was well within the spamming line.Chainsaw
I must say that after playing head to head with WC, I'd like to change his
name to the Principal as he took me to school and gave me an awful spanking.
I found a weakness in Wildchild............
Play when he is not playing.....
I'd like to think that going against WC made me better but I'm afraid that all he did was make me deader.
But I love the adrenaline rush when I see he's in the game cause that means it's showtime!

I dunno where my T2 disc is, but I'll try to find it... This could be a lot of fun..
My favorite memories, were when AB and I would hop in a bomber on T2 and pwn the entire Map. First we'd take a remote Inv. out of bounds, then place it far, far away. Then we'd beacon it, and head off with two rep packs on us, and bomb the hell out of the n nme base, and it didn't matter what we'd hit, everyone would run and hide when they saw us.. It was a blas. Killing Shrikes with the bomber turret, then MAing the pilot when he ejected... it was priceless. We were accused of cheating many times on public servers, but our match tactics never really utilied our deadly Duo.. and at LAN parties, throw Timmain in the mix, and we were almost unstoppable.
Or all the times in matches I'd play LD with Ice when he's on HD... I got TKed more times by him than anyone... LOL Man those were the days.

Somewhere I have that 'Ambush_Bug[DTM]' game card that Sirus made up, I'll see if I can't get it posted.
As for favorite memories. Hm. Probably waaaay back when, just when I started in on ADTM. I was still on a modem then, and known as 'HPB_Ambush_Bug'.
I had taken great pains to perfect a mortar jump with INV on my back, namely so that I could get one on the back ledge of the Broadside base from the ground without being seen. One night on a pub (I think, it's been like five years now), I successfully got one up there. Having secured my perch, I suited up in my typical base-wrecking gear and made for the roof.
To this day, I can't remember exactly what went down inside that base, but I can tell that about five minutes later, I emerged on the front deck, completely out of ammo save for a couple of disks, shield gone, and on a sliver of life, with my kill count up by about twenty, the generators destroyed, turrets gone, all inventories (remote and regular) blown to bits, only to be cut down by the opposing team's defense sniper, who had been hanging out behind the deck turret.
I don't think I've done anything that brutal since.
