The original poster unlocked the missing models for the Argon Discoverer. He also posted some picture of the Argon Nova that he also found, some used currently and some not. But a Moderator said today that the reason these models are not currently being used is because there are major bugs in them that they were not able to fix before release. They do intend to correct these models and use them later, but other problems have priority.
Also if you want to see the real model of the Teladi Ospry click the following link:
http://subsoap.com/ck/Osprey/
Again this model was not used because of an error. The only reason any of the models are not being used is because of a 3D modeling problem, which they say is not easy to correct.

I can't see way so many are complaining about no cockpits. For crying out loud, it is not unrealistic to be piloting a craft through cameras or in a glass bubble. But I guess some people just like the "secure" feeling they get when their surrounded by metal beams.
From the one post about the Sector for sale, it sounds like there are at least two sectors for sale. They appaear to be ramdomly triggered but at this time no one has been able to find the BBS message to buy them. It would be awsome to formally own and name a sector. I hope there are good asteroids for silocon and ore there or else there will be problems setting up complexes.

Update on Wildchild's Empire.
I now have six ships. Four fighters and two transports. My fleet is expanding.
Toucan Hauler (Hidden Ship)
Iguana Vanguard (Hidden Ship)
Pirate Teladi Falcon
Pirate Argon Buster
Pirate Boron Buster (I think it's Boron but could be Argon)
Argon Buster (Starter)
To start it all off. I openned my last saved game. I was planning on selling the falcon to repair my two Busters. I had not got the Pirate Boron Buster, and the Iguana Vanguard was on its way frmo Family Whi. I docked everyone at The Federal Shipyard in Argon Prime waiting for the Iguana Vanguard. Took me seven tries to get all the stuff off the Falcon and into my Buster. I made the mistake of dropping cargo, as I couldn't figure out how to transfer it and the fighter drones that it was carrying went crazy and started shooting police. The other cargo literally went to the CORNER of the sector as soon as it was dropped. I loaded the game again.
Transfered everything fine. Sold the Falcon for a few 100k, repaired my hull from 34% to 65%, max speed went to what it should have been. It fixed my drive I was stuck doing 98km instead of 136km like it was before I had it beat up.
I figured I was going to forgo trading as I now had more weapons than my ships could carry. The Iguana Vanguard had a payload of 45 BAPC I think is what they were. They are what comes standard on my Buster. And since it only uses four of them (I think thats the correct number) I used the others to fully outfit my Buster. But that is later.
So I sold the falcon and the Toucan Hauler as the Iguana Vanguard seemed more serviceable. Better weapons faster speed, smaller cargo. I ended up getting my first million just by selling those two ships. I was like WHOA COOL. The Hauler went for close to 800k if not a little more.
So I fix my ship and go out and patrol, get halfway through Home of Light and I realize that My Iguana Vanguard was doing nothing and my other buster was doing nothing. So I buy a Trade System Mark 3 upgrade and shot back to the Iguana Vanguard which I named Gambit's Revenge. I set it to Sector Trade in Argon Prime to see how it worked. Before I got to the east gate of Home of light I had made close to 5,000credits. I went out hunting Pirates. Ended up in a cool sector that I wil leventually plan on setting up my storage for my fleet as it is isolated and has only one gate.
Ended up coming out of a gate into a HUGE and I do mean HUGE fight between Pirates and Paranid. There were so many Red Icons I didn't know if it was Christmas in space or my ship was telling me to run. I should have run. I figured that with all the help of the Paranid I would be ok. Well the first mistake i made was trying to help a Paranid Pericles Raider pilot, which I inadvertantly shot. He turned red and so did every other freakin ship in the sector. Lets put it this way, I didn't even have time to turn around as it was an all out, 'Tag WC's it!' from both sides.
I reloaded and began flying in another direction. Luckily I saved it with an auto save so my Iguana Vanguard was still trading but I lost all of it's progress. I went east instead of south. Same thing. I got swamped by priates and had to reload. I failed to cap a single thing in two hours. So I decided to reload a previous game and get my Hauler Back to trade with the Vanguard. So I go and get my Hauler back and let off to get the Vangaurd again. I had to jump two sectors or three I think. The sector right before the Vanguard a lone Pirate Buster was flying toward me toward the west gate I just entered. I figured I would get some target practice in. After all it was only a Buster. I unload three BEPC on it and two hits shields go down hull takes 15% damage and pilot bails. WHOA. Those shots were literally perfect as I didn't see one miss him in the moniter and he was still 195km away.
I jump out claim it. Full shields intact, one weapon intact and a cargo of energy cells. I take the cells for my jumpdrive and send him home. I go claim the Vanguard and I jump home and hit SETA hoping it will get there before my wife kills me. It is close to 2:45am at this point. I look up on the map and it is one sector away. I am sitting outside of the Federal Shipping yard in Argon Prime waiting. All of my ships but the Vanguard are docked there. I do some quick trading of shields and weapons and wait. I apparently was to close to the docking lane as a pissed off transport pilot ramed into me saying, "Oh yeah you want some?" Then everything went red on me and I fought as many as I could before I died. Needless to say I was upset as I wanted to put ym two cargo ships on ST overnight. Luckily I saved it before that so I am good. I will get home load up, repair the ships, sell the falcon to get the credits for the Trade System Mark 3 software for both ships and set them in Home of Light and Rolk's Drift. I may put them both in Home of Light and set the Busters to protect them until I get get some sensors in a few of the other sectors.
But all in all I made about 1.5million last night before I had to load a new game. I will set the ships to ST for a while as I go exploring sectors and try my hand at capping some more stupid busters. I tried capping a Nova but... yeah right. Not ready for it in this pitiful ship.
So my fleet is growing. Minus the Falcon I have five ships. Started with three, had six, ended up with five. All in all a good night.

Sounds like a fun time. Once you get those sector traders leveled up to become universe traders you will be raking in the credits.
The Pirate Boron Buster is still an Argon ship, it was probably just piloted by a Boron. The Boron ships have an aquatic look to them.
You said you found a sector with only one gate, where? Was it Akeela's Beacon? I only know of 17 such sectors and none of them are in the core domain (the 7 sectors by 7 sectors box, the top left end of the universe).
Did you sell the BAPC's from the Iguana or are you holding them to arm future fighters? The Toucan Hauler was in a Boron sector and the Iguana was in a Split sector when you found them? I have a map for X3 were I marked sectors with hidden ships but I didn't mark what they are or where they are. There are 11 scattered across the universe.

I think I will just stick with this for a while. I have seen some guides on how t build costless fab cycles. May try that as well when I get some more credits.TimberWolf wrote:Sounds like a fun time. Figured as much. I need to figure out how to cap more. It is pissing me off that everytime I see a pirate they have three to five fighters and I can't take on that many with this pitiful ship.TimberWolf wrote: The Pirate Boron Buster is still an Argon ship, it was probably just piloted by a Boron. How do I install more shielding? It says my Buster can have 3x5MJ shields. I have 4 on board. How do I get them all to work? Or at least three of them.
Ok go down to Empire's Edge in Paranid Space. Hang a right as the corw flies. (That would be west as you enter the system.) You will then go to another sector that has a station of some kind in it, but nothing big. Then head straight south and you enter this sector with six asteroids in the center of the sector, and that is it. If you count sectors it would be 9-1.TimberWolf wrote: You said you found a sector with only one gate, where? Was it Akeela's Beacon? I'm cheap. I plan on using them for other ships I catpure if I can capture something bigger than the small version of the Argon Buster, they only carry the AEPC instead of the BEPC that was in the cargo.TimberWolf wrote: Did you sell the BAPC's from the Iguana or are you holding them to arm future fighters?
The Toucan Hauler was in Menelas' Frontier which is Boron controlled space. The Iguana Vanguard was in Family Whi which is Boron space. The Vanguard will be the easiest to find technically. I have the specific coordinants but the ship does seem to float. The Toucan hauler moved from the first time I saw it as well. it moved closer to the object it is behind the last time I nearly hit it moving it away.TimberWolf wrote: The Toucan Hauler was in a Boron sector and the Iguana was in a Split sector when you found them? One problem I had is I can't find the Supergate in Family Whi. I flew forever it seemed and couldn't find it. I do have a bigger scanner now but still it is stupid that I should have found it.

You will have to get use to pirates being in groups. If you want you can get the Split Momba that is drifting around in Loomanckstrat's Legacy surrounded by squash mines. Many players get that and then can handle most pirate groups.
Your shields should automaticly install when they are put into the cargo hold. You can check by looking at your ships details. If it is like X2 the first thing listed is shields equiped. The fouth shield will just be sitting in the cargo hold. Also if you look at the cargo hold and select the shields there should me an Intall/Eject or UnInstall/Eject option.
So you found the Yaki Pirate sector. Didn't realize how far into the Parinid sectors you went after the Pirate/Parinid accident. I have been collecting maps for X3 so I will know what the universe looks like gate wise but finding everying thing won't happen until I get the game.
You can see what type of Buster the pirates have when you select target information, where you can even see the type of weapens they can equip and if you have a frieght scanner you can see what they have. Also note that they get better weapons as your combat rank increases. As for handling Nova's, try attacking them from the sides. You have a faster ship so you should be able to do straffing runs and defeat them. You can find a Nova to claim in the second Unknown sector from Mealstrem. Granted that is on the far side of the universe, it might just be better to get the Momba that I talked about prior. There are also Two Buster Sentinals laying around the universe ready to be claimed if you want to find them.
Some gates are nolonger in their logical places. Try searching for the East Gate towards the corners of the map or find some frieghter heading that way and follow. The way the gates are placed sounds better than what it is in X2, which are dirrectly across from each other except for the unknown sectors. I look forward to rediscovering the universe in X3 when ever I get it.

Yeah I had a time in the Paranid sectors. I went through them and went to that Yaki sector then left and started going farther west. That is when I ran into heavy resistance.
I don't seem to see an install/Uninstall portion it just seems to install it automatically when I put it in my cargo hold.

Haven't played in a few days but I will give an update soon. I have no seven or 8 ships. I started an old save so I could keep both of my ST running. The only problem is I dont have enough credits to get them running so I am trying to cap a few more busters, harriers to get my credits up. I need 500,000 for each Trade System Mark 3 upgrade. Thats a freaking lot. I think I will just get the one running and continue to cap until I can get enouigh for the second one. In the meantime I will keep my busters to fix for support.
Trying to get a picture of all my fleet together.

Frustrated
Ok, I spent an hour or so last night attempting to play. Didn't have fun at all.
Apparently the word is out that I dislike Pirates. Every sector I entered last night pulled an awesome job in killing me. I woul dpop into a sector and scout around and see a lone pirate. Usually a Hauler or a Falcon. So I would try and pounce on them. First few times I was beat due to poor energy management. Tried again. I got just within firing range and then out of two gates jumped in ten pirates, five on each side. Needless to say I couldn't even run away. I had weapons fire at me I have never seen before.
I thought I would trick them and jump into the sector instead of fly, possibly give me time to set up an ambush at one of the gates. Didn't work. I sat there with SETA on for twenty minutes, long enough for them to come through. As soon as I left the gate, BAM they jumped in and turned me to space debris.
On a side note, I did get to see a UFO last night. Bastard was fast. Got a few pictures too.
I am having a real piss poor time now because I can't seem to get enough credits to supply my ships with the trading software.

The pirate problem seems to pop up in many games. From what I have read it is a side effect of the AI eliminating all the pirates early in the game. The best suggestion I have read is to dock at a station and wait it out. They will just pass by, most of the time. I think that every time you have attacked the Pirates in the past you were such a low combat rank that they never considered you a threat. Now you must be a high enough rank that when ever you attack a pirate they will send in reinforcements to stop you.
Also the pirates get better weapons as you increase in combat rank, so expact to have harder battles.

Problem is, I don't think my rank has increased at all or if any not much. I just got a trading rank last night for selling a bunch of Spacefly cargo I got form a capped ship. Got a decent about for 4... like 15,000 at the pirate base in Ore Belt. I ran into a swrm of these things once but had no way to capture them. I left did some failed capping came back through and they were gone.
I'm getting frustrated now. I think I may drop my buster for a bit and trade some manually. I've got credits to throw away and I read you can made 20,000 - 100,000 on SIlicon runs Which even if I do a low end Silicon run thats still 20,000. Do that and Energy runs a few times and I should be ok to buy the trading software upgrades I need to get my transports up and running without my aid.
That is what is killing me right now. I have 8 ships and only one running. Four of them are in perfect condition but still are not being used.

Do you fly around with escorts on yourself? Do you have your other fighters equiped with the Combat Software to fight with you? You can set them to defend you so that they only attack things that shoot you first or any missiles that come your way.
Also remember you have to have money in the bank so that the traders can buy goods to sell once you get them going.

Absolutely. I have roughly 200,000 credits stashed away. I have not been trading as of yet but when I do it will only be in Argon Prime and Home of Light first. The safest places to be. The deepest in friendly territory and most heavily patrolled. I will put my other ships to run escort on the transports when they are operational, but only as functionary at first until I buy all the upgrades they need.
The argon busters are not that good so I am thinking that a few around each transport will compensate, considering the Iguanna has 6 BEPC and a Turrent I think. It is more than capable of handling minor fighters itself. I've got some ideas I will try tonight if I get a chance to get on. Like I said I need about 1mil to get set the way I want and I don't want to sell my transports to get it. So it is hard work but I will get there.
