Well... have had to stop playing for a bit. Been concentrating on work and doing some simulations on my home pc for some side projects. Have only played AA for a bit and that was for about 10 minutes. Heh.

I'm looking forward to playing more nights though. Doubt I'll get home early enough to catch any of you all anytime soon. I'm going to be assisting on another program at work, and that will suck even more of my time up. The good news is that I'm looking into possibly transferring over to the propulsion directorate at AFRL.

lol

The whole reason for me coming down here was to realign my career path to the spacecraft propulsion field. I knew that my current project would help, because of the physics and engineering principles involved (we do have real rocket motors). I figure that it's going to take a while to get back up to the northwest (where I want to be), so I'm looking at AFRL's spacecraft propulsion directorate. I'd REALLY like to get in on their electric propulsion stuff. :D

I haven't been able to play since getting back to the dorm.

I am concidering starting a new game as a bankrupt assasin. I am kind of tired of being nice to all of the races but I don't know which ones are important to the story line. So moving to a non-story game will allow me to attack and anger anyone I want. I am also considering giving my character a story to follow.

Story being considered: A Pirate who had just started working. With the intent of never being attached to any place, he will gather resources and ships by stealing them from others. The goal is to buy an M1, fully load it with weapons and fighters, and then take on the major governements except for one to continue to get capital ships from. Final goal will be have a battle fleet roaming the universe with no stations.

I may just finish the story in my current game before restarting. Key reason behind this thinking is because I don't like how my current game is going with its stations.

Ok, here is my plan:

1: Make my way to Pirate space from where ever I start
2: Begin attacking frieghters (excluding Teladi) with my sub-par equipment
3: Sell captured ships and goods to the Teladi
4: Upgrade my ships systems at Teladi stations only
5: Upgrade my weapons, shields, and systems from captured equipment
6: Grab the 2 free ships in the Boron and Split core sectors, and sell one of them and turn the other into a Sector Trader
7: Make enemies with every except the Teladi
8: Don't go exploring the universe

Depending on the weather and what my friend decides to do, I may start tonight. If not it may happen tomarrow or next week.

It has begun. I started a Pirate character, who starts in a Split Mamba with 1 25MW shield, 2 AHEPT's, maxed rudder and engines, no money, and the Boron and Paranid already want to kill you. It also starts you in Adladna Hill with the sector already mapped.

First try: I saw a red Boron transport on my map and went for it. Once it was destroyed I got the attention of the local police who proceeded to kill me with missiles.

Second try: I followed the Boron into Pirate space and destroyed it. I was then attacked by a group of Pirates who wouldn't leave me alone and they killed me with missiles. There was a Harrier, Nova, and Falcon in the group.

Third try: Repeat everything up to the moment the Pirates appeared on my map. Docked at a nearby station and sat there for a few minutes. Then left and attacked some Paranid transports in the system, staying ahead of the Pirates. Captured 2 Paranid freighters, 1 Pirate Buster, 1 Boron super frieghter, and then proceeded into Split space to make my way to Teladi docks. Stopped in at the Trading station and destroyed some Paranid ships passing through, captured a Pirate Buzzard. Apparently the Split police don't like Paranid being killed so I said sorry so they wouldn't destroy my captured fleet passing through at limping speeds. Entered Teladi space only to see there is no shipyard in the first sector, only an equipment dock. At that dock I switched some catured equipment over to my ship, such as a jump drive, but not much else was left on any ship. Now I am on my way up to their home sector. I have found out though that they also don't like Pranid or Boron deaths in their sectors. Also you can't say sorry to an Osprey.

If I want to ensure a close shipyard to sell my captures at I will have to make nice with the Argons because they have a shipyard one sector south of where I had started. I will probably make friends with the Teladi and Split. Those two racis have a good distribution of sectors covering the north east side of the universe. I will probably go into Menelaus Frontier and pick on the Boron for a while to make money and get some equipment captures off of them. If they have too strong of a military pressence, I will just jump in and get the free ship floating around in there and then get out. I am in no condintion to take on groups with a lot of missiles and more than one M3 fighter.

Doesn't the political situation change as time passes? So for example, if there's a time when the Split are at war with the Boron, you'd make friends with one by attacking the other?

There are basic relationships between all of the races that never change. For example the Boron and Argons are in a aliance and if you attack either one then both will take offence. The Paranid and Split are another aliance. The Teladi are neutral.

As of when I stopped playing, I had captured 11 ships, sold 7 of them (3 others are on their way to the shipyard), and lost one to a Boron Hydra. I got to Boron space and found that they were more than willing to give up their cargo and ships to save their lives. To bad I didn't have any good cargo ships to pick up what they dropped or else I would have made a fortune. I didn't get a chance to grab the free ship though, was having too much fun attacking the frieghters. I will probably keep the Dolphine Super Tanker and set it up to be my collector. It already has a jump drive, just need to fix it up and equip it.

I now have half a million credits and 4 ships to my name (2 of which will be sold, 1 for picking up dropped frieght, and the other is my Mamba named 'Dark Blade'). It is a lot of fun being the bad guy.

*EDIT*
My ship is fully repaired, cargo is maxed out, but I have yet to find any weapons or shields dropped by anyone excluding missiles. Also the Boron are so mad at me that they brought that Hydra in from another sector to eliminate me. From what I can tell the Hydra didn't leave Boron space but several military fighters have been seen searching Teladi space since my attack. I can only assume that they are watching me because as soon as I loose one on my radar another one appears from the other direction. So it maybe messy next time I attack. As if destroying 10 fighters, 4 frieghters, capturing 5, and getting out of there in a, priorly, damaged ship with little in shields and weapons wasn't messy enough. It looks like I am going to have some real fun next time I enter a Boron sector.

As of last night, a break to myself for turning a year older, I had over 2 million Credits, A Boron Super Tanker with about 80% hull, and A Buster Sentinal (freebie) which I took 2 of its 3 weapons for my Split Mamba. I may take two of its 5MW shields to reinforce my single 25MW shield.

I have really pissed off the Boron now. As of the prior post there was only a Hydra and some fighters patroling there. Now I have a Boron Ray, an M2 class ship, with 6 escorting fighters patroling the sector. I was able to capture about 3 more ships but once that Ray showed up on my radar, I could no longer sit and pick targets let alone capture them. Hundreds of units of cargo was left floating around because it wasn't safe to bring in my Boron Super Tanker to pick them up. When I saved and quit for the night I was in Adladna Hill and just finished an Assasination mission for the Argon.

My plan for next time will be to make my way to the Paranid sectors and Pirate their ships in Split Fire. The down side is that the closest shipyard is 4 sectors away and I don't have it explored yet. That means I will probably be stacking my ships up in a cornor for a while and then ship them off together with me running escort and lead until I get the location of the Argon Prime Shipyard on my map and then send the captured ships to it as I turn around to continue picking up more money. I may also bring my Boron Super Tanker down to pick up frieght. Need to get it properly equiped, such as some basic shields, upgrade its engines and rudder, and repair its hull.

From what I could tell the last time I was in Menalaus Frontier the stations are starting to fail. I have stopped several loads of energy from reaching a station. I have also stopped many transports with bogas and other Boron foods from completing their runs. One down side is that not all the ships serving in the area are Boron or Paranid. There are many Argon and Teladi ships doing buisness in the area. It is kind of nice to hear every time I enter the Boron core area "Please leave! You are not wanted here. If you don't leave the Boron will have to use force." Their first attempt to kick me out was nothing but a couple of fighters, easy kills. Their second attempt was the Hydra with its escorts which did get me out of there. And finaly the third attempt was the Ray with its escorting fighters. I am not going to try attacking anything bigger than a fighter until I get more weapons and shields.
