From what I have read, the story will continue on from where it left off. The main plot for next season is getting the last of humanity away from Baltar and his pro-Cylon government. So we will be seeing them fighting for their freedom and the Battlestars returning, undermanned, to the rescue.
I don't remember see Sharon on the planet surface. I do remember seeing the Cylon from Raknor (from the mini-series and the guy tossed out the air-lock) asking for Starbuck.
Here is something to wonder, why did the priest say the Cylons had gone else where and left the 12 Colonies? What did he hope to gain? If they actually did go, where did they go? Did they begin fighting another war else where or did they shore up their supplly lines and build more resurection ships to ensure that they would never loose the tactical advantage?
