Here is what I have gotten for my birthday so far:
1. An upper retainer that wouldn't come off (eventually did with great pain)
2. A hard drive that has failed with my school notes, games, music, resume's and my diary. Some of this is located online or copies back at home. But things like my games can't be replaced unless I can retrieve data from the drive after getting a new one.
3. Tons of paper cuts, even from the paper towels at Target. Scrapes from anything and everything.
4. With my computer being out of order I was unable to finish my online physics homework, only lost 2 points for it. I have been busy talking to my Dad and Brother about finding ways to make sure that it is the drive and nothing else.
5. Didn't have a good weekend because of all the reading and homework that I had assigned.

Good points:
1. Being around friends that recognize that it was my birthday and getting to talk to them.
2. Got a chance to play X3 for a while and get a accuracy rating of 70%.

Thats about it. At least my X3 story is stored on this forum so I can continue from that.

Send me the failed hard drive if you determine that it is the problem. We can recover them sometimes. It is what I do at work. :)

Once I get a new hard drive in and running, I will try to see if I can access the malfunctioning drive through windows. If I can't then I will send it to you, Ice. I hope to be up and running again by saturday if all goes to plan. I will have to call home for the CD keys for my games, such as X3. I also have to be getting ready for my first midterms next week.

Iceman, what are the best ways to mail hard drives?

*EDIT*
Ok, I have the new hard drive running. I am still downloading updates and drivers for my hard ware.

But I have a problem with respect to my games. I don't have all the CD's I need to install Sim City4, The Sims2, X3, of Diablo2 which I have the playing CD's for.

Anyone still playing this? If so how is your empire growing? Too bad my laptop can't run it but when the school year starts again I will be back on my desktop and playing like crazy until homework and work catches up.

Ice, you never did send me an address to mail my broken hard drive to. Just PM me and the next time I am home I will get it packaged and sent, which may be a couple of weeks.

Got this reinstalled on my desktop and started playing again. Restarted my pirate character and currently running from a Khaak fleet that seems to be following me. I have no wingmen and have 3 ships waiting to be equipped. One is near Seizewell, and the other 2 are in Light of Heart. The pirate sector west of Aladna Hill was where I had been doing my captures rather regularly but the last time I saw it there were 2 Khaak Destroyers, 1 Khaak Carrier, and countless fighters. They destroyed the only station in the sector and barely let me pass through in one piece. From there I went north and got one of the free ships and tried to pirate the Borons but found out that they had a Destroyer waiting for me near the gate. I passes through their sectors down to Elena's Fortune and then over to Argon Prime. I am currently working my pirate life in Split Fire with some mild success. I need to be closer to a shipyard and to the pirate sectors to really do what I am doing. I have been forced to stop pirating to escort my captures to Argon Prime or else I will loose them to pirates along the way. I almost have a million credits and my starting ship is fully armed, shielded, and upgraded.

Got some playing time in earlyer in the week.

My rag-tag fleet was forced back towards Argon Prime by the Kha'ak fleet. I was able to bring over the two fighters on the other side to get partially equipped from my captured weapons. Now I am attempting to take the fleet back out of the Pirate sectors to sell off some of the captures and finish arming the escort fighters. This has not been easy as Pirate Nova's and Falcons with PSG's and Ion-D's have been protecting several sectors. I have taken some hull damage and had to restart many times when many of my ships were destroyed along with myself. In one hour of game play I got my ships 1 sector over and parked at a Pirate base waiting for commands to head out again. But each time I do a recon of the next sector I find another major threat that prevents my ships from making it through. I hope to reach Argon Prime by next Friday and return with 2 Busters, and a Perseus fully armed escorting me.

My armada that I built consists of twenty some busters (98% picked up as salvage from pirate hunting I did buy a few when credits were flowing from salvage), a few falcons (4), and one or two harriers, my few ST's floating around (5 I think) the home sectors are pretty safe for now, all got stuck in the middle of a sector when a khaak fleet was attacking the stations, which wasn't so bad as I was making good time skirting around them, way out of the usually shipping lanes as I was on my way to do a mission that delt with a khaak invasion three sectors over but had a limited time frame to do it in. Like 30 minutes I think. Easy BBS mission that raked in some good credits.

Bad part. Everytime I tried to jump my ships I would get attacked and I would end up loosing half of them, so I decided to run by going around the fight. Halfway to the sector gate a damn Xenon invasion fleet pops in and starts whiping everything out so I am now stuck in the middle of the Xenon gating in from the same gate Im trying to go through and the Khaak behind me trying to pick off my slower ships. I had my first few ships who have a little speed actually crash into the first few Xenon to gate through. When the first wave was fighters i wasn't worried, then the big guns popped in and I just watched as I was taken down from twenty five ships to three in a matter of three minutes.

I tried it for four days straight to get out of there and decided to give up, I tried canceling the BBS mission but my rank dropped with a race I am trying to get it boost up with so it wasn't an option to turn tale and run. I left it alone for a while and started over and now have five ships in two hours. Of course I am stuck with a damn pirate patrol shadowing me and one of my latest finds is to slow to outrun them so I am forced to fight them the entire way. The last patch I got made it real hard for me as Xenon and Khaak are all over the damn place. One such invasion fleet from the Khaak are slowly making their way to Argon Prime one sector at a time and I have nothing remotely big enough to slow them down. I may just have to run and hide in a sector somewhere until it is all over if I continue my old game.

Here is something explaining how race relations are effected by your actions:
OK, here's the scoop. Paranid hate Argon and vice verse. Boron hate Split and vice versa. Teladi are neutral to everyone, even pirates. You can kill a Boron in Split space and get a Split rep increase and Boron decrease, and vice versa. Same for Argon and Paranid. The Teladi will like you less if you kill any of the other races' ships in Teladi space. If you are enemies with the Boron, and kill one in a sector belonging to any race but the Split, you will suffer a race rep hit with the owner of that sector, and their defense forces, if any, will attack you (except, of course, in pirate, xenon, kha'ak and unknown sectors).

Good to know. Although my last venture into X3, as you can read in the next part of my story, has found me looking down the barrel of a Xenon fleet coming out of their hole.

Even when I played my first game and had my large fleet I never saw a Xenon or Khaak fleet so large so fast. Must be only in the Bankrupt Assassin game. But I swear I could not see any ship on my HUD in the sector screen that wasn't a Xenon, it filled it up and I had to scroll to get to the top and bottom.

But thanks for the info about the alliances... now that I'm in Split space. . . Boron are fair game.

I had that happen before the last time I started a game. Granted this is the first time I have seen a Khaak fleet, but I have seen several Xenon fleets in my game time. In my original game I had wipped out several Xenon fleets, including the leading P, with my flight wing. I can't wait to get back to that again.

The only time I saw a Khaak fleet was when, in my first game I got stuck between the Khaak fleet on one side and the Xenon on the other. It was a nice light show but I could only run so fast.

I ended up destroyed four of those damn little clusters before I finally bought it. But my flight wing wasnt so lucky. It was like an ant hill (me), being stuck between two smashing rocks. I'm enjoying this thus far though.

I had that problem with X2 but I never could get it to work. I'm not tech savvy enough to help... make sure you have the latest video drivers.
