I have changed my Pirate character. It was starting to get boring wasn't making much in progress towards getting a capital ship. So I have settled down in Home of Light and built a 1MJ Shield Factory. I also went and bought 2 new frieghters to service it, really need 4 to make it orperate on its own but ran out of money. So far its doing well but still requires a lot of attention due to the lack of frieghters dedicated towards it. I now have one Universal Trader going, haven't even looked to see where he is.

My next plan is make a couple of million credits and then tack on a Cahoona Bakery and a Cattle Ranch. Both will probably be the largest possible to allow for future expansions. I intend to eventually add a Solar Power Plant and maybe another fab so that the only things I need to import is ore and crystals, which are both really cheap in the area.

I did a rough calculation of profit between the 1MJ Shield fab alone compaired to the 1MJ Shield fab with Cattle ranch and bakery. Its the huge difference in profit per hour that is the driving force for me to get the money to put them on. Basicly it will more than triple my profit per hour even with the increace in energy cell use.

The next time I play I will return to my escorts in Teladi space and continue my pirating to help raise the funds to expand my station into a complex. I will eventually add in stations to build weapons for personal use. We will see how my character changes because of this.

I don't know how to help you. Your computer sounds close to mine, but I don't have such major problems. I do have times where my computer freezes the screen but the game is still running. That happens in graphic intensive areas such as Argon Prime or Seize Well for example. The latest patch has reduced that problem greatly for me.

My specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
1 Gig 32000 DDR
Geforce 3 Ti 200
Win XP Office

From things that I have heard is that 64 bit processors have trouble working with software that is not designed for them. Beyond that I have no ideas. Just go through all of your software and make sure its the latest and greatest and hope that the RMA card will help.

Anyplace on the web I can find that will pull my pc specs out? I know some of it but not all... like I know my CPU power is a 3.2 but I don't know what kind of mobo I am using, shy of taking my case apart and checking.

As for your sudden change in player type... is it going to have the same affect on me? You just get bored shooting stuff up? Or was it because credits were rolling in slow? I had the plan of patroling Teladi and Split sectors while keeping my ongoing hatred of Boron to an even keel and take them out when I visit pirate sectors.

Once i got the credits to run some STs/UTs I would run them to make some credits. I thought about installing some of the user scripts that add things, different ships for instance as well as stations such as player shipyards and I saw one with a headquarters station that could be built. If I did that then I would pirate until the funds came in to establish an HQ then build my fleet until I could begin wiping out Boron sectors, to include Xenon and Khaak... Pirates I'll leave alone in their sectors.

Well, for me my personal goal was to have a Carrier with escorting M6's and go roaming the Universe. The problem was that my race relations would no where near what I needed to even buy a M3, let alone an M6 from the Argons. I had considered setting myself up with the Teladi and then waring with all others. But after looking at a web site to see what stations do well out off the one's I could buy, which were only with the Argons, I decieded for now to play it nice in Argon Prime area. I am still going to pirate and one day I will attack Argon, but right now I will build myself up.

I didn't deceide to build a station because of lack of pirating or anything. I just started to realize that my goal of getting Capital ships would take me too long. You can still follow your own path, and even go further if you choose sectors near the Xenon sectors. Once I have a large complex going in Home of Light and Ore Belt, I will sever my ties with the Argons and begin my war with them.

Got about an hour of game play in last night, when I should have been doing homework or going to bed.

I rejoined my escorts in Teladi space and transfered my jump drive over to a free freighter and sent it back to my station so I don't have to baby sit it any more. I then began trecking across the Boron sectors to get to Home of Light and the Gonor Temple to give everyone jump drives and energy to jump to the far side of the universe and pick up the free Nova and figure out what to do with a captured Falcon over there.

While in Boron space I recieved their usual threat about being in their core sector, Menelaus' Frontier. While passing through Rolk's Fate I captured a split frieghter piloted by the boron. On the way out the Boron military over took me with a Hydra and three Makos. I sent my escorts with my capture as it putted its was towards the gate at half the speed the Hydra was racing up to it. I took out the Makos real fast, then began dancing with the Hydra until it died.

I had intened not to kill any Borons during this trip but they wouldn't leave me alone. Which made me mad. When I was close to Atreus' Clouds, with my capture and escorts already halfway across heading towards The Hole, I hear that they are under attack. When I get over to the screen to see I see that they already have it taken care of. I enter the sector and was met by hostile customs ships. I called for my escorts, seeing as the capture was almost through the gate, but there was another band of customs that engaged my Peguses. In all of the confusion, I was finally able to redirect some of my escorts to help the Peguses, but by then it was almost destroyed. It is currently heading back to Argon Prime with less than 10% hull. I was really pissed then. So I attacked the closest Boron freighter, and captured it. I then went and found another one and captured it as well. I then escorted my two prizes out and saved my game in The Wall.

I have to decide if the Peguses is worth repairing, it was one of my first captures. I will most likely sell all the freighters I just captured just to have money in my pockets again. But after the Boron assaulted one of my ships, I really feel like going back to one of their sectors and taking more of them out. And you thought I was settling down with that station.

One last thing. I don't know why there were there, for all I know they maybe sent in responce to my actions or presence in Atreus' Clouds, but there was a Boron Hydra and a couple of wings of Mako's escorting it through The Hole heading towards the South and East gates. I couldn't engage them because it is an Argon sector, so If they are following me then I will have to take it else where, but if they are in responce to my presence in the area then they will probably be dieing soon by my weapons.

That poses an interesting question. Should you be in Argon space, would the Boron attack you onsite? And if they do could you defend yourself and not loose rep?

Thats a good point. I didn't even think about it. My biggest fear was if either the Paranid or Kha'ak decided to invade the Argon sectors. Now you have brought somethig worst to mind. If the Boron sent an invasion fleet through Argon sectors and attacked me as they passed through, could I defend myself without causing the Argons to responding to help the Boron.

I will have to re-evaluate my position in the area. I might have to make more stations and start building sector defenses in Home of Light in case such an event would accure. There is a Colossus currently patroling the sector so I would have to be able to destroy that in the event it turns red while destroying the assaulting Boron forces.

If the Boron do attack and the Argons turn red, then I will be in real trouble. Nearly all of my assets are in Argon Core sectors. My character will definately be a true Pirate with allies in the Teladi, and maybe the Split.

Hence why I asked. I think it is a very viable issue. One that I am not sure if there is a reasonable answer for us. On a side note, I have been looking over some of the scripts for X3 and have decided that I am going to break down and load some. Probably the ship addons. To see a Firefly fly through the system or to have one would be awesome for me. There is a script that will script in more ships but in order to get them you have to work for it. Missions kind of thing, so by playing a pirate with enemies you wouldn't get every ship.

I just want something different to happen than have the Xenon and the Khaak constantly being the only pain in the rear. Well and now Boron.

The Boron have earned my wrath. My ship was too costly to repair so I had to scrap it. I repaired the little damage I had recieved and then headed back to Atreus' Clouds.

I destoyed the local defenders and then destroyed a Bo Gas factory the hard way, with regular weapons fire. I then began attacking near by transporters and had several eject on the first pass. So with about 4 captures, one destroyed station and no real back-lash, I started my way back to Argon Prime to do minor repairs and sell off my new found goods. I was near the west gate when the Hydra and its escorts from The Hole came in one at a time.

Realizing that my new captures were defenseless and slow as slugs, I quickly ordered my wingmen to engage as I to the liberty of firing first. The Hydra quickly fell, and I mean quickly. Its escorts were singling out one of my Busters, bringing its shields down quickly and beginning to rip into its hull. I refused to take another loss to these "Fish Sticks," as I have been calling them. The Mako's were quickly destroyed, and my Buster continued on with 68% hull left. The good thing about Busters is that they are cheap to repair.

So now I have a good stock pile of shields and weapons, enough to arm either a single M3, two M4's, or 3 M5's. I still haven't gotten over to get the Nova or do something with my other Falcon sitting over in Grand Exchange with PSG's in its cargo hold. I figured the Boron needed to recieve a bloody nose for what they did to my wingman. The Argons don't seem to care as long as I keep the fighting out of their area.

The next time I play I may either return to Atreus' Clouds and destroy the other 2 red stations there and continue capping Boron ships or Head off to get the Nova and then either bug the Xenon near Black Hole Sun or the Paranid in Heretics End which I have never been to before.

On the domestic front, my 1MJ Shield factory is selling its goods like hot cakes. It started today with about 33k on board and now has close to 200k. This is without me taking money out or putting money in. Once I am done with capturing ships and pretty much raising hell on the other end of the universe I will be back to build a Large Cahoona Bakery and a Large Cattle Ranch to it. Once thats done I will be able to start raking in more money to further expand it until it becomes a closed loop producing things at pure profit. The only catch is I will have to have the silicon mine in a different sector because this one, as far as I have seen, doesn't have any asteroids. But thats for much further down the road. I will probably add another shield or weapon fab to it before then.

*EDIT*

I have played a couple more hours today, even though I should have been studying or doing homework.

I am currently in Omicron Lyrae in the process of selling the 11 ships I have captured in Sacred Relic. I have picked up the Nova in the Unknown Sector and the Buster Sentinal in Treasure Chest. My original ship is now my Nova's escort. Currently working on getting the Buster up to par and getting all the valuables off my captured ships before they are sold. I should roughly make 2 million credits or more from these ships. One ship has several thousand units of something that only the Paranid want.

My combat rank is Warrior and my trade rank is Wholesaler. The combat rank has allowed me to capture more ships on the first pass, or it might be the Nova with 4 AHEPT and 4 APAC. I will soon jump back to Argon Prime and add those stations to make a complex and then return to continue my Pirating and exploring. My 1MJ shield fab was sitting with about 600k in its bank account last time I looked.

When I picked up the Nova it could only move about 43m/s. When I was getting close to leaving the second unkown sector, about 2 gates away from Teladi space, a Kha'ak cluster came running up to me. I didn't have any missiles with me, nor was I that close to the gate. I quickly transported over my jump drive and the 10 energer cells I had left, but then found that I needed to transfer my navigational software. By then the cluster had broken up and began firing at me. As soon as the software was over there I commanded it to jump to the furthest gate it could, the north gate one sector over, and then to fly to the Teladi trading station on the other side of that gate. I never did see it jump nor did I have any chance to see it it was also being hit by missiles. All I could see where the Kyon beams streaking all around me as I spun around and gunned my way towards the gate. All I could hear was missile warnings and things blowing up all around me. I got through the gate with less than half of my shields, no hull damage, and then wondered if I survived for nothing because the Nova was destroyed. That quickly vanished as something green was on my hud, very far away. It was the Nova turning around to head to the Teladi trade station.

I finally made it into Teladi Gain, but I think it was a wasted effort. I am not sure if I just pissed them off or if an errant shot in one system I was in hit a Teladi ship as the Teladi Police and one HUGE ship are red to me as soon as I enter the system.

Could it be that I capped three Boron sjips in their sector? I thought I was immune to their wrath as long as I stayed away form their ships. I captured three Boron ships in the same sector on one pass. Not a big deal I am sure but for me it is. I had to reload my game four times because the teladi kept pestering me. All in all if I didn't have to reload I would have captured close to seven ships.

But after all was said and done. I was able to send my three new captures to a station where they were out of harms way from Teladi enforcers. A Boron Dolphin, Boron Falcon, and a Boron Barracuda all captured. The falcon didn't make it though. It had minimal hull when I capped it and I think it blew up when docking with the station.

But I now have five ships.
Split Mamba - Starter, Mama's Joy
Argon Buster - Pirates Paradise
Split Iguana - Traders Glory
Boron Barracuda - Stolen Pride
Boron Dolphin - Tug Boat

ANy idea on what caused the teladi to hate me thus? Only the police and this big ship are after me. I try to hail them and they destroy me. No comms possible. I was able to pick up the Teladi Police Licence so I have high enough rep with them at least. I haven't seen any pirates in their sectors to try and gain rep with them and the Boron really hate me now to where I get the leave or die message when I enter their space.

My first thought is that those ships heard the Boron call for help if you attacked them in Teladi space. Even if they are not allied together, Teladi protect every one because they are all paying customers. This is supported by the fact that you simply cant comm them and say "sorry".

Are any other Police red to you or only those few? Check to see if you still have the Teladi Police License. If you did do something illegal in their space it will be gone. In that case you will probably have to get those Teladi ships out of their space and either destroy them yourself or someone else. When they respawn they should be neutral again. But thats a worst case situation. Beyond that I have no real clue.

You talked about adding ships to the game, I gave it a look. I tried out the Star Destroyer and Super Star Destroyer. Both were very powerful but I didn't like how they effected the feel of the game. I have also added the Earth Force Omega from Babylon 5 and feel that it works in the universe. I will try the Galactica soon and see how I like it in the game. Once I make my choice of ships to be in the game I will return to my Pirate game and get them without using scripts. It was intersting having the Super Star Destroyer launching 220 fighters and destroying the Borons.

That would make perfect sense then. I will try to track them out of their sector. I think the Boron have a sector close by I can jump into and get rid of them then jump right back in.

Now that I think of it one did send out a call for help but I thought it was for the Boron's not for the Teladi. I'll have to be more careful next time. And I bought the license after I noticed them turning red on me.

How do you make it to the farther sectors with the Khaak and Xenon in them? I tried to get a ship out of one fo the Xenon sectors and was summarily spanked and sent home. I would especially like to know how you got the Nova.

I liked the Buster when I had it in the plot game but am liking the Mamba for its sheer speed. It is nearly double what the Buster is, I will find it hard to find a ship I like to replace it. Although the style of that Barracuda looks interesting but I haven't got in it yet.
