New photo - Monument to our Armed Services

Post by XMENPorsche »

During a recent trip to St. Louis I spent some time in a historic city on the banks of the Missouri River called St. Charles. Right next to the parking lot I noticed a granite monument to our armed forces. Surrounding the monument are a number of American flags flying at half-staff, and one of them had the POW/MIA flag flying just beneath. As I walked around the monument and read the inscription on each side the image below started forming in my mind. As I read the text I kept coming to the part where it was talking about our freedom. Reflected in the granite was the US and POW flags. I feel that there is great symbolism in the capture of the reference to our freedom overlaying images representing the price that has been paid. At least, this is what I was trying to convey. It's up to you to tell me whether or not I came close.

(Granted, you probably wouldn't have been able to tell that that is the POW/MIA flag underneath the US flag, but this was about the best capture I could manage. Look at it long enough and I think it's recognizable.)

Thanks for looking.

I saw that when you posted over on CCC. Thought it was great there, too!

(That'd look cool on the metallic paper, I bet.)
