Come in! Have a margarita or root beer? How about some fresh trout? :)

Busy week

Post by XMEN Gambit »

I've not been online since Sunday.

Was driving to work Monday morning when the electrical warning light on my dashboard went off. I've been stuck in all day meetings all week with some Important People (at least in our company) for a big project we're working on, so been getting out a little late too. So, I get out Monday, eat a bite, and run to wal-mart for a battery. Change that, but it's not the problem. On down the street is an Auto Zone, so I pick up an alternator hoping I can fix it that night and so not have to take Rogue's car to work and so prevent her from going on a field trip Tuesday with our daughter.

No dice. I couldn't get the old alternator out because I didn't have a 10mm deep socket to remove the radiator reservoir, and by the time I found this it was nearly midnight. Sigh. So, pick one up the next day on way home from work driving the Blazer, and it's pretty straightforward after that. Still time for bed when done, but my car lives again.

Then last night I was Invited to come with our VIPs and vendor for dinner. A very nice dinner, and I enjoyed it, but still was ready to drop into bed by the time I got home. Especially after driving through some of the wonderful springy weather we're having here in the Dallas area daily of late, namely heavy storms with big fat lightning, hail, heavy rains, flash flooding, high winds, and in some cases tornadoes. (No tornadoes on my way home but the storm looked fairly promising.)

But here I am again. Digging out of email, etc. :)

The relay switch for my fuel pump was inside the passenger side dashboard (even though the book said it was in the back panel). That and other things are located in strange places. This car is a '94 Ford Escort Wagon.

2001 Focus Sedan; The oil filter is on the upper back of the engine block, about 3-4 inches from the cabin firewall. It's not too hard to get to after putting the car on ramps.

Oh, did I mention the almost unavoidable face-full of hot dirty oil?

Wow, Gambino, hope you guys aren't too stressed out with everything.

As for the hot oil in the face, I no longer eat fries from McDonald's because I found out (by accident) that they taste like used motor oil.

Nah, this isn't a crisis or anything. Just that car problems tend to be a little frustrating. :)

I understand. My most frustrating moment was when my car's timing belt died, in the middle of weekend rush hour on I-15, on my third day in a new state, and the day before I start my new job. LOL!

But to be honest, I didn't have kids. I didn't have a wife, and it was just me that it affected. :D
