Not really into photography as a hobby, but always loved how these pics I took a few years ago came out.

Something to think about when you do shots such as these, and most photography in general.
Think of the rule of thirds. The easiest way is to imagine a tic tac toe grid on your viewfinder. Now put your subject in just one third of the frame.
Here's an example:
Or you can fill your image with the entire flower.
Also, use your flash for what they call "fill" light, or if you don't have a flash, you can use a peice of white paper, or cover some cardboard with aluminum foil and hold it to where it reflects light onto your subject.
