Ok, so I haven't spent the time to go through all the pics I took form the PBR event up here last Saturday, but here's a gem I thought I should share. Please comment, and I'll post more as I get time.
Rodeo anyone?

Nice captures and color saturation. My only nit is that the shutter speed seems a bit slow. I would probably have shot for something like 1/500 or 1/640. To do that you would need to open up your aperture a bit (if you can).
I'm jealous! I want to shoot rodeo, and there are plenty of them down here. I'd really like to find an outdoor event, though. Those are tough to find.

Thanks! I have the 1st one printed in 8 x 10 hanging on my wall as we speak. The guys at TPF had mentioned the same thing on the shutter speed, but the aperture on this lens was wide open the whole time, and at the longer focal lengths on my 55 - 200 the most I can get is f5.6. Not sure where is switches back down to f4.
The second shot was resized for the web, but that's exactly how it came out of the camera. I would imagine in Texas you'll see more outdoor events at the county fairs, and the state fair, no? We've got 4 or 5 really good rodeos every summer, as some of the more rural Fire Departments use them as fundraisers, and the PRCA is more than happy to help out, and they come here a lot. There's another one coming to town Feb 1-2, but I'll be in Las Vegas for the Miller Lite Super Party. (And I had awesome seats too.. Row 5, middle of the arena... I'm happy and bummed at the same time.)

I'll have to try that... Going to go shoot some more wrestling this weekend, (have 2 tourneys planned) so here's to hoping I can get some more / better shots. Will most definitely shooting with the flash, and faster shutter speeds. I have noticed that without the flash and higher shutter speeds, the corners of the image wind up looking dull or black.. Not what I'm going for.
