HELP!!!!!!!
OK.... Here's the deal...

I buy a mainboard ad case today for my dad, and I put his old Athlon XP 2100+ in this board, and I get: nothing. Fans spool up, and then they shut off. No video signal, nothin. I take the CPU out, and The fans kick on, and stay on, but I still get no video. (No CPU to enable the video BIOS, I think.)

SO, I crack my case open, not sure if the Mainboard or CPU is bad, so I put my CPU in the new mainboard and the same thing happens.... Put the CPU in my case, and bm.. same damn thing.... So, now I think I have 2 bad CPUs and 2 bad boards... Any Ideas????

I HATE EZBOARD!!!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
Sounds to me like Dad's MB is frying your CPUs. Your MB may or may not be bad at this point. Similar thing happened to Iceman once while I was over there.

XMEN member
Card-carrying DTM
OKL Fish-napper

Though a program be but three lines long, someday it will have to be maintained.
The Tao of Programming

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
OK.... I will go return the mainboard and CPU tomorrow, and hopefully, I'll wind up with some good Hardware,and I can at least get my dad his PC back to him in Phoenix... Man... I wish I could just buy myself a new Mainboard and CPU right now... FOr what I spent on my Athlon XP 2000+, I can get a 2400+ from newegg.

I'm just a little nervous that if I get a new CPU, and I put it in my Mainboard, I'll fry the chip, and still have a bad mobo... What a damn conundrum....

I HATE EZBOARD!!!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
Couldn't you RMA the mainboard? Just tell them that it won't work. You might miss out a bit on using it. But it beats having to buy a new one.

Unless there is a place you can get yours tested?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub141.ezboard.com/bxmenclan.sho ... andtm>XMEN Ashaman DTM at: 4/29/03 1:00:40 pm

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
I can RMA my dad's Mainboard, and my mainboard is still under waranty, bu I haven't been Happy with this MSI VIA KT333 Mainboard, so I think I'll look at an Nforce2 mainboard. I've seen good things on them, so we'll see.

I HATE EZBOARD!!!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
Mavicator has one of those. He has the ASUS one... and I've never had problems with ASUS (if you want to hear a good brand).

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub141.ezboard.com/bxmenclan.sho ... andtm>XMEN Ashaman DTM at: 4/29/03 1:00:48 pm

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
I'm looking at the A7N8X, But I see lots of people saying to only use CAS 2 DDR, and Frankly, I don't care to use the Dual Channel mode, so I think my CAS 2.5 DDR should be fine.... Just trying to find good stuff, and not get screwed....

*sigh*

I HATE EZBOARD!!!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!
CAS 2 is pushed because it allows you to really take advantage of what that board has to offer. I'd definitely skip the KT400 chipsets though.

<left>
Dragon Talon Mercenary

Member of the XMEN

Have a Nice Day!

</left>
