Grandma in the Hospital
Two Friday's ago my Dad's mother was taken in for something simple which turned out to be a symptom of something much worst. She took a turn for the worst over the weekend that forced me to return home for a while. Unfortunately I had to return to campus to continue my classes and do interviews as this is my last quarter.
She has gone through 27 years of fighting cancer which took a lung from her in the battle. Now she has pneumonia and its stressing the last lung to the point of exhaustion. This caused her heart to develop two separate rhythms for the top and lower half's. She now lays in the ICU with a ventilator that breaths for her, with tubes down her windpipe.
The Doctors told us she wouldn't live through the day Saturday, which is why I raced home, but she is still alive. My Aunt tells me that her condition is unchanged since Sunday evening when I left, meaning Grandma is sleeping most of the time and critically stable. The Doctors say it would take a super miracle for her to get out and the quality of life she would have is questionable.
So all I can ask for is to keep her in your prayers.

Today they took her off the ventilator, as she had been on it for almost the full two weeks. She hadn't been getting better since Saturday, but did show signs of slowly slipping. They had talked with her, as much as one can to someone who can't speak back, before making this decision. She lasted 15 minutes before passing away and returning home to heaven. I will be returning home this Friday after class. The funeral is Saturday. At least she is no longer battling cancer, after having held it off for 27 years.
Please keep my Grandpa and his 4 sons in your prayers as they come to terms to our loss.
