To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
I'm not sure if anyone here still plays console games other than myself. And even if some of you do, I can only manage a meager estimate on how many of you enjoy the RPG genre of which Squaresoft has always been a fond part of. And even if there are some Console RPG fans amongst us I can only begin to fathom the microscopic odds that some of you are still Nintendo fans.

BUT...

To those of you who, like me, still love Sqaure and Nintendo with equal enthusiasm, I'm sure you've heard that the two are once again working together on numerous projects.

While the idea of an FF game that will be interative between my friends GameCube and my GameBoyAdvance is enough to make me attempt a hazardous backflip, the thought of having FF Tactics on my GBA just sweetens the deal. FFT destroyed my resolve for homework in Grade 11, and I'm sure in 3rd year university it will once again leave me utterly unprepared to face the day.

PS2 is still far and away my favorite console, but it's nice to see Nintendo is still capable of attracting my attention, lifting my spirits, and draining my bank account.
XMEN|FireFro[DTM] --- "I hate shocklances"

"Join me or die, can you do any less?"

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
I love the FF series. That was the only reason I stuck with Nintendo for so long, but when they lost it to Sony I stopped buying game consule stuff because of the huge price change. If FF was to go to the Nintendo Game Cube, I would buy that just to play FF.
-LoS-TimberWolfvehicle specilist

"Don't Drink And Drive, Get High And Fly Home" said by Neckhole

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
The only FF Game I haven't played is FF IX... I played and beat all the ones on the NES and enjoyed wasting all those beautiful spring and summer days in front of my TV because Square and Nintendo sucked me in... But, I've graduated from the NES to the PSX, and now PS2, and I'm glad I did.

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
I have checked anticipation towards this.

Square made some excellent RPGs in the days of the SNES, but I haven't been too impressed with their last four games (with the exception of IX, which, while I didn't get a chance to play, thoroughly impressed me as I watched it). A GameCube FF will be nice, but I'm really looking forward to playing an 'oldschool' RPG on my Game Boy Advance. Nothing against their latest stuff, but I once again want people to be able to say that the latest Final Fantasy is a great RPG not because of it's FMV's, but because of it's gameplay, characters and storyline. The restrictive technology of the Game Boy Advance (it's somewhere between the SNES and the N64, but not quite capable of massive polygonal stuff) will hopefully give us GBA holders a silver age of console RPGing.

Fro, you have a GBA already? Then have you checked out Advance Wars, a maddeningly addictive turn-based strategy game, or Golden Sun, the first RPG for the system, and not a "We'll make a quick RPG to hold off the fans until a real one comes out", this is a REAL RPG.

<img border="0" src="http://www.xmenclan.org/avatars/t2red.g ... >
RedSirus@

Dragon Talon Mercenary > <a href=http://server2.ezboard.com/bdragontalon ... >
DTM Community > <a href=http://pub18.ezboard.com/fdtmonlinecomm ... s>RedSirus' Reviews

Brainwashed Fishmonger > Forum ...

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
I own 3 games for GBA: Castlevanisa Circle of the Moon, Advance Wars, and Golden Sun (don't worry about Fro, he knows his GBA games).

As for previous FF games, I'll agree that SNES ones were more impressive, but I actually liked FFX a lot. FFIX was great and FFVII was nearly great (if they had just thoughtout the gameplay more it might be one of my favorites) but FFVIII was a piece of poo.

As mentioned earlier FFT + portable = zombie Fro
XMEN|FireFro[DTM] --- "I hate shocklances"

"Join me or die, can you do any less?"

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
Heh, Fro knows GBA. I can't wait for Tactics. Any word on any other RPGs coming out for the GBA?

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
You know, I'm still slogging through the NES versions of FF2+3 (which never made it to the US), and somewhere I've still got 5 for the SNES. Someday, when I get a bunch of free time, I'll be able to go through those translated-from-Japan games.

For me, the magic ended with FF6 (our FF3)... 7 was 'ok', 8 makes me wanna hurl (Pavlovian button-smashing, anyone?), and 9 I haven't had a chance to play as I, er, don't have a console system.

Actually, I just picked up another RPG I'm having fun with... Grandia II. Turns out it got ported to the PC recently, so I picked it up.

Back on the FF thing, though... I really wish they'd have a collection of sorts for *all* of their FF games on DVD or something, so that we PC owners could really have a good set to muck around with.

Member: DTM, XMEN
Professional Tank Driver
Card-carrying Base-Cracker
Ugly Son-Of-A-Gun

Bug's Tank Bumper Sticker:
"If you can read this, you're already street pizza."

Re: To any who enjoy Nintendo and Square
The future of RPGs for GBA looks like a mixed bag. FFT looks like the most promising game for awhile. Since I'm trying not to study I shall now rant about PRGs for the GBA.

I don't think we'll find anything as original and fun as Golden Sun for awhile since most of the GBA titles are old franchises or remakes. Here are some promising ones that are already out:

- Breath of Fire I & II - If you like the BoF series then they're good remakes

- Ogre Tactics - I didn't care much for this game when is came out on PS, but it got great reviews on GBA so it might be worth checking out (hopefully they changed the useless magic system)

Here are some of the RPGs that will be coming out:

- Phantasy Star Collection - If you like Phantasy Star, prepared to be disappointed by this re-release that only brings out the first 3 games of the series ("Hey, I have an idea, let's bring out PS on GBA", "Wow, that's a great idea, but let's not include PS4, the one that didn't suck.")

- Shining Soul - Don't get excited. This isn't a real Shining game. It's just an average looking action-RPG. Though it does have an interesting looking 4 player mode, so it might be good.

- LotR Part I - New franchise? Chance for marketing merchandise? Crappy looking game? You bet.

- DBZ: The Legend of Goku - This actually looks like one of the best games out in the near future. Supposed to be really solid action RPG that goes from Raditz to Freeza. It's supposed to be a little tough though. Also, you have to put up with charming DBZ dialogue

Freeza: "Hahahaha, I am stronger than you. My power level is 32451361341351345. Hahahah. Watch me power up. HIIIIIIIIYAAAAAAAA AAAAAACHIOOOOOOOOO"

Nuclear explosion that dries oceans and atmoizes the earth for miles. *Ka-Boom* Dust clears, target is standing unharmed, jackass who fired blast makes stupid expression

Goku: "Hahahah, very good, but can you stand my kung-fu?"

10 minutes of tense close ups and strained expressions

*Viewer suffers brain hemorage and falls off sofa, dead*
XMEN|FireFro[DTM] --- "I hate shocklances"

"Join me or die, can you do any less?"
