Tribes 1, summer 2006 reunion, all friends

WOW that was fun!!
I havent played T1 in so long I had forgotten what a great game it is. Played some Annihilation today, and pwned. Yeah, me, Ravok, doing well at this game. *laughs*
The MA's aren't nearly as common as when people used to play. Its like a whole new game to me. I was stunned, no HO spam either. Maybe I just got on a newbie server or something, but it sure was fun.
I was all alone vs. 2 enemies at first. So I was duly challenged for all the old original keypad usage. I used to use a totally custom setup, but now I am just going with the defaults, so it was like learning everything all over again. I was like "How do I use the pack?!!!" ROFL
So yeah, playing this game with you folks again is going to be a riot!

Okay I remember that there was a was of finding friends using the buddies list. Ex. typing in XMEN will get you all the servers with peeps with XMEN in their name. Forgotten how to make it use the buddies list. It isnt using a filter or do you click fav and the first one has an XMEN in it?

Does anyone remember the specs required by Tribes for server?
Ice: I do remember that the network requirements were worked out to about 2-3 Kilobytes per second, per player (on the lower end.... a 28.8 kbps modem). 15 mb should be more than enough, if that's each way. That should be about 1.5 MB to 2 MB per second, depending on how you calculate your byte sizes.

Re: lol
There was no "buddylist" exactly. You just got a chance to filter servers by a group of letters. In other words, putting "XMEN" into the filter would give you servers with xmen in the name, and servers with players with xmen in the name. You should be able to scroll through the serverlist and see that some servers have a little mark by their name. You can sort the columns by clicking on them, so if you were to click on the column that has that little mark (just to the left on the same line as the server), you should be able to put the results at the top or bottom of the list.DarkKnife wrote:Okay I remember that there was a was of finding friends using the buddies list. showfps();
in the console.
type:
show();
to remove it.

I jumped on a server today and was disgusted by all of the teamkilling and players destroying their own generators. I don't remember, were Tribes 1 pubs always this bad?
This is why I love playing with friends. You don't have to worry about idiots trying to ruin the game.
BTW...are we going to have voice communication set up for the reunion?

Hey all, long time no see!
(wonders if anyone even knows who he is)
If I can make sense of my old Tribes directory I will definitely join the fray. As always, I'll be playing the game bone stock, no scripts, except for fast favs which is pretty much mandatory for not pissing people off at the inventory stations.
This should be a blast once I get my feel for the game back!
