I didn't know about this, either.<br><br>Here's some information about the MiG-25, incidentally<br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mig-25">en ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br><br>The MiG-25 was created to destroy a bomber the US had stopped working on (The Valkyrie) and as such, it was grossly inferrior in all other capabilities except for its speed and didn't have many useful roles.<br><br>The MiG-25 is the fastest fighter class aircraft in existance, but its main claim to fame is that NATO overpradicted what it was capable of to every other edxtent. NATO believed it was a secret superplane far superior to all western forces at the time, which then led to NATO creating several new planes to stop this perceived threat, including the F -14 and -15, and the Mirage 2000.<br><br>Many states continue to use MiG-25s today in reconnaissance roles.<br><br>====<br>Ah, I missed that they found Su-25s, too.<br><br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Su-25">en. ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br>The Su-25 seems to be inspired by the YA-9, the experimental airplane that lost its competition to the YA-10 to eventually become the A-10 "Warthog" Thunderbolt. Man this was all the talk in the aerospace community. We were almost pooing ourselves thinking about how much stuff Iraq had that we missed counting.<br><br>If memory serves, the Iraqi thoughts were that they would get blown up if the planes took off, so they just buried them to keep them for future use. And it had the side-effect of the US miscounting some of the Iraqi inventory when they did overflights with satellites.<br><br> <p></p><i></i>
