In 4 days. yup I was born 8/24/82. Not so special by itself but both my older and younger sisters are dating guys that were born on that day. so its kinda weird <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

had a small party last night, while my sisters boyfriend is here from Michigan visiting her, (she moved here begining of July) as well as my older sister, Aunt, mom, dad, a old friend from school and I went out for Sushi. Had a bunch of yummy stuff, nothing too exotic (as in its still wriggling when it is served) but very good <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> Went back to my parents house and opened the few cards/presents I got. I got the two things I told my parents I really wanted from www.thinkgeek.com the plasma mug <a href="http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/mu ...  and a poster <a href="http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/po ...  the mug is soo cool its just like the plasma globes.... except you can drink out of it. I am going see how it looks with mountain dew tonight <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> (should be very cool) My friend ordered me somthing as well but it did not arive in time so I gotta wait to get it from her <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> But perhaps the best part was the cheesecake that my mom made... yeah so do I, <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> used it tonight with mountain dew and it looked COOL (sorry no picts) and it was fairly cheap as well <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> unfortunently it runs off 8 AA batteries (or AC adapter that has to be bought seperatly) I have plenty of AC adapters around the house do you think its ok to use one of them. Either that or I need to figure out where to buy the correct one.

Sure, you can use one you've already got (or get one from your local electronics store) but you need to check some things. Connector - it has to fit correctly. Duh. Test while unplugged. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> Polarity - The polarity of the adapter must match your device. Usually you can find a simple little diagram on both. Many multi-use AC adapters have a switch or reversible plug that lets you reverse polarity. Voltage - 8 AAs at (nominally) 1.5 v each = 12 v. Make sure your adapter can do it, but that's a commonly used voltage, if on the high side for a normal brick. 9v, usually the next setting down, almost certainly won't be enough. Amps (or milliamps, rather) - I forget the formula here for calculating total amperage as well as what a AA supplies. But not to worry, the amperage requirement should also be printed on the base of the mug, or at least in the manual, next to that diagram I mentioned regarding polarity. By the way is the formula your thinking about V = IR? where I is current and R resistance? the base requires 250 mA. And no, V = IR wasn't what I was thinking of. I was trying to figure out if the current amount depended on whether the batteries were hooked up serial or parallel. I know it changes the voltage, but I'm unsure about the resistance. Happy Bday! For batteries... Parallel increases your amperage (sum the current out of each one to get total). Series increases your voltage (sum voltage of each to get total... think of it as stairs. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> ) Battery resistance is DAMN hard to measure. It depends on the charge for most batteries, and on what the temperature is inside the battery. For the batteries, even though it takes 8 AA batteries, it may be any combination that you can come up with of the batteries being in parallel, series, and opposing polarities (yes, sometimes you'll want to do this last one). I want to see pics!
