In Argon Prime there is a Place called The Argon Federal Wharf. Go there to sell ships and do repairs. The shipyard if for capital ships and stations. The Wharf is for fighters and transports. BTW, repairs are not cheap in X3 by what I have read. It will probably cost about half a million to repair your original Buster. I would strip and sell the Falcon, move everything from your original Buster over to the Pirate Buster and then sell the original so you can repair the Pirate Buster. But it is up to you.
Great to hear your about success with capturing. Good luck not running into your prizes next time.

Thats what I figured I would do once I found a place to sell the ships.
I will use my original buster right now for capping a single ship at a time. The only good thing about the falcon is it has a set of fighter drones in its cargo bay. All I need to do is figure out how to transfer the drones and its shield generator as it is better than the one in my busters. It will take a while for my falcon to get there. It has no SETA drive, no jump drive, and it's current max speed is 23km. I put a real hurting on this ship when I capped it. I broke it so bad I don't want it. Almost not worth keeping to sell, although the drones are nice to have I'm thinking.
My other buster I like even though it is smaller than the starting one. It is smaller but has a faster max speed when upgraded. I like the paint job on it. Looks more defined. So once I cap a few ships and make some cash, I have a big whopping 163 credits; I will transfer the drones, the jumpdrive, and the shields over if possible. I can have more than one shield on a ship right?
I had to buy energy cells for one of my missions and afterwards I realized I didn't have to. Cost a lot for something I can't use outside the mission. And if I can I haven't figured out how to yet. Although it does help me find jump gates if I haven't found them yet.
I can't seem to figure out how to record movies though. The command that the manual has is wrong, or I am not doing it right.
I have a mission I am currently ready to do but I think I wil lwait a while before doing it. Get my ships up and running and all. I have to find someone in a sector I have never been to but by talking to people it is farther east than I have been in pirate sectors or beyond. The good thing about having other ships is I can tell them to go from one sector to another and they find the gates in between which is nice.
My first agenda after fixing my ships is getting a police license so every pirate I kill I get paid for regardless. So far none of my three missions have paid me so I'm despondant right now. Can't afford to pay attention it seems.
I was going to attempt an assualt on a pirate laser tower but realized it's effective range is FAR superior than mine. It started shooting at me long before I could get a target so I said screw it. I will leave assualting that stuff till later.
Thanks for the info though TW, I will send my squad to the warf when I get home. The pirate buster is in Argon Prime right now and the Falcon is heading there. It is a sector away I think. Which means it will take 45 minutes of real play time on SETA x10 to get to the Argon Prime sector. It's real slow.
Oh and I've seen a ship that can cloak and doesn't show up on radar.

Once all of your ships are docked at the Wharf, dock there yourself and you should have the option to transfer goods and equipment between the ship your in and one of your others. Most ships can hold more than one shield but you need to check your ship details to make sure that it can and how big they can be.
The cloaked ships is some how connected to the plot. The only reason I know this is because on the box it asked what the connection was between an alien device, a cloaked ship, and a continued threat or something like that.
The energy cells to used to full Jump Drives or can be sold at almost any station. If you have a jump drive and enough energy cells you can jump to any gate you have discovered. The story mission usually don't give you anything, just takes you along further into the plot. I suggest you build up your money for a while before continuing. Maybe even start a sector trader to level up into a universe trader. That way you could have income coming in with out having to do the work your self. This would also leave you mobile without having to have a factory to support.
Once you get a Police License you can also get a Freight scanner. Remember to do your policing in the sectors belonging to the race you have the license for or else you not get paid or loose reputation points for having the Freight scanner on board. I suggest having the scanner because Pirate freighters no longer appear as pirates on the sector map. You have to scan them to discover them. When you scan them and they turn red then you have full authority to destroy or capture them. If you scan them and they don't turn red then ignore them and scan another. Some times weapon dealers will attack when scanned, some are real pirates while others don't like their ship being scanned.
I believe there are also Wharfs, or that races equivalent, in Antigone Memorial (north of The Hole), Cloudbase Southeast (south of Presidents End), and Rolk's Fate (two sectors north of Farnham's Legend). Also Kingdom End, Boron sector, has a Wharf and is located three sectors north of Ringo Moon. I don't know how much was changed between X2 and X3 but from my understanding from reading many, many, posts is that major stations like these were not moved from these sectors.

Hmm I haven't seen any wharfs, but then I haven't been looking. I have been in all the main sectors in my area and the outlying pirate sectors just to the east.
I also have a trasporter on my argon buster but can't figure out how to use it either. Not that i have tried an awful lot but hey. I think I will stick to capping at the moment to get rank and skill in combat. At least it is entertaining and I get the bonus of getting a ship if I am lucky. Which it is getting to the point where I don;t think luck has anything to do with it.
So I will continue to use my argon buster I started with. No sence in using the other one and ruin it's hull even more. Although the argon buster you start with has an advanced targeting computer in it, teleporter, SETA Drive, Jumpdrive, and a speed upgrade. Which I don't know if I can transfer those over to the pirate buster.
Tell you what, I am starting to like this game a lot. And your story thus far of our escapades in the X3 United Server are close to dead on for me. I am finding enjoyment in building a mass fleet. My Goal is to buid a armada of ships and take over dead sectors. I know of two so far that are dead sectors. I just have to get the trading stuff down so I can supply myself with everything I need to be self sufficiant. That may take longer I think.
I don't like the falcon, it has a huge front end, making the ass swing way wide when turning. I hit two ships in it last night by turning 180 degrees. I blew them up but nearly destroyed myself in the process.

The transporter is used to move yourself or goods/equipment between your ships. Example: You want the shields off of your Falcon but it won't reach any stations any time soon so you fly within 5Km of it and use the transporter to transport the shields into your cargo hold. The only things you can't transfer between ships are rutter, speed, and cargo upgrades. As far as I know everything else can be tansfered, including the advanced targeting computer.
Some stations are rather far out there in the sector and normal scanners don't have very good range. You may want to go to a Boron Equipment dock and buy a Triplex scanner wich will triple your radar range. This will help you search sectors for stations and abandond ships. I have heard about abandond ships drifting away from their positions or flying to a station after some time.
What are the dead sectors you have found? They may not actually be dead because the AI may have destroyed them in a battle. Such as a Pirate fleet went through it and attacked everything. The only "Dead" sector you should see is Presidents End. Any other named sector should have stations in them.
The story is on hold for the time being. This is my last week of regular classes. I have to do a group presentation this wensday. I then have to study for finals that start on monday and end of thursday. Then I get to go home for christmas break, 3 weeks.

Yes one of the sectors is presidents end. The other one is just inside pirate territory. I don't recall the name, although I got blasted to pieces in it.
Can you manually transfer speed upgrades? Like eject them or swap them at a docking station? That would be nice to know. And when I get a rear turrent how od I use it? Does it fire automatically at rear enemies or do I have to switch to another HUD to view it and use it?

Ship upgrades, such as speed, cant be transfered. Think of it as being you had the cylinders in your car engine being polished. You can't move the polished cylinders to a new engine.
Rear turrets will do nothing at first. You will have to go under command consol (the same screen where you find the navigation option for your ships) and give it a command. You may have to scroll down a little bit. For example you could order it to shoot missles which will cause it to shoot any enemy missile that comes into its arc but it will also attack enemy ships attacking you. If you only command it to attack enemy ships then it will ignore missiles unless they are the only thing in their firing arc.

Do you have to set it to command all the time? Or once you set it it will continue to be like that until you reset it? I would hate ot have to do it every combat, especially if i get jumped. It would be annoying to have to set it every time I load it up but that would be manageable.

Once the command is set then it stays there unless there are no weapons in the slot or (sometimes) when you switch to manually control the turret. For the most part it is something you do once and forget, unless your like me and the turrets keep destroying your captures but thats in X2. I believe the turret controls are the same in X3 since the game is almost identical to X2 in the type of controls the user has.

A quick note before bed. I have four ships now. A Toucan Hauler has been added to my expanding list of ships. Now if I could put my derelct ships in there to move them faster... Oh yeah.
Stil lcan't find any wharfs. I searched two of the sectors you mentioned from top to bottom and nothing. Asked on the X3 boards, maybe Il lget an answer there. Night.

I wish I could help you find them but I don't have the game. Like I said, get a triplex scanner. You maybe close to it but it may be just outside of your range. You could also look at passing ships to see where they are going. There maybe one heading to the Wharf for some business so you can follow them. Or if your lucky you can use video enhancement goggles and look for stations not on your map.

Update: The guys are Egosoft have said that there are no more wharfs. Wharfs have been removed for duplicity it seems and everything pertaining to ships, fighters, frieghters, capital ships are all done at the shipyards. So I will sell my falcon to repair my other ships, said it will cost about 100,00k to repair one ship not sure the price for the falcon considering it is the worst for wear. But I have a transport now so I can start making a little cash. Even send out my other buster with a few weapons to keep watch of the lug.
Oh and the Transport is called Timbers Trading... will rename it soon with something catchier but that fits good for now I guess.

Its nice to know Wharfs and Shipyards were combined. There are some things, not in all sectors, that are beyond what the sector map can show. In some sectors there are hidden gates, abandond ships, secret creates, and maybe more.
The UFO that runs around was a joke the devs put in one of the early X-games. The UFO idea was started by the community. Now if the Devs had the time they may have also added the UFO Home Base that everyone talked about in X2, which didn't exist. So if you go out beyond the map you might find some interesting things.
One thing you should know, if you set a fighter to protect a freighter it will follow the freighter to the first station and dock along with it but wont continue following. There is a glitch with the command that needs to be fixed.
You could name your transport "Gambits Gamble." Once you get the Mk3 Trade Software you can turn it into a Sector Trader where it will do trades in a sector on its own. Later on when it has gained enough levels, and you have maxed out its shields and given it a jump drive, it can then be changed over to Universal Trader where it will do trades in every sector you have explored. As a UT it can make millions easily. But they do cost a lot to start.
