Ok...I caved in...I installed Vista Ultimate
Yeah...got it
I loaded the 64-bit version on my gaming rig...and WOW...dual cores running at speed Rocks! The OS is flying...instant response.
BUT...dang thing is having problems with dual-channel memory on my motherboard. I had to make it single channel before it would go stable and install. Gonna do a bios upgrade to see if it helps. Wish me luck.
Installing my games right now. So far I am impressed.

you mean like... TrustedInstaller.exe?
I actually love Vista Ultimate... but I'd have to say that a dual core CPU is a must. That "TrustedInstaller" and the indexing services are real CPU hogs. (And they seem to wait until game time to do anything... kinda sucks playing a game and have it come to a crawl because TustedInstaller is currently using 90% of your CPU time.
But then again, I'm probably the only one on the planet w/o a dual core CPU yet. But who cares... I'm going to the 12 hours of Sebring!!! (at about the cost of building a brand new mid-range PC)

Fixed my dual-channel memory issue. Found out that all I had to do is bump up the voltage from 1.8 volts to 1.95 volts and now it works great.
So far I love Vista. I was scared of it to, but wanted a 64-bit OS to take advantage of the horsepower and I am VERY glad I did it. COD4 is beautiful under DX10.
Woot!!!!

JESTER!! How ya doin' man?
I'll be making the move to Vista this weekend. I'm looking forward to it, although a couple of our uber-geeks at work hate it and think that XP-64 is a more stable platform.
